[edit] History
Eerbeek was first mentioned in 1046, with its name being derived from aardebeek.[citation needed] Papermills appeared in the 17th century; the paper industry, which began in 1650, brought prosperity to the town. Key figure in this development was Vincent Schoonheim, a paper manufacturer. Tourism later became its main industry which continues to this day.
