User talk:Edward Z. Yang
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
After encountering some users who opt to reply on their own talk pages (and for some very good reasons), I have come to a conclusion: a compromise. If you initiate a discussion on my talk page, I will reply on my talk page, but, I will notify you on your talk page via a short statement (ex. ==RE: Subject== See reply on my talk page) and will do this every time a post a reply. This way, not only are conversations not fragmented, but you will know if I've acknowledged your comment. This will not be done if the conversation will probably only consist of a question and a reply. Promote good etiquette on talk pages! (Archives: 2004, 2005)
I reserve the right to remove images/templates/unnecessarily complex markup from this page. Automated notices may not be moved to archive pages.

[edit] Talk Page
Now, this isn't a slight, but a genuine question: Why doesn't Wiki have some kind of PM service? Or even a Wiki forum? Seems to me it'd be easier to get a good Invisionfree or even phpBB forum than to use these editable Talk pages. Tom 13:38, 11 January 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Congratulations
Hi, Edward Z. Yang, Congratulations on Becoming a Sysop
Hey there. Congratulations, you've just been made a sysop! You've volunteered to do housekeeping duties that normal users sadly cannot participate in. Sysops can't do a lot of stuff: They can't delete pages just like that (except junk like "LALALALAL*&*@#@THIS_SUXX0RZ"), and they can't protect pages in an edit war they are involved in. But they can delete random junk, ban anonymous vandals, delete pages listed on Votes for deletion (provided there's a consensus) for more than one week, protect pages when asked to, and keep the few protected pages that exist on Wikipedia up to date.
Almost anything you can do can be undone, but please take a look at The Administrators' how-to guide and the Administrators' reading list before you get started (although you should have read that during your candidacy ;). Take a look before experimenting with your powers. Also, please add Administrators' noticeboard to your watchlist, as there are always discussions/requests for admins there. If you have any questions drop me a message at My talk page. Have fun!
PS: I'm happy I got to be the one to promote you ;) — Ilyanep (Talk) 00:50, 18 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Anime DVD cases help (updated)...
I got your note and I don't know why the linked added was removed, but I can understand why. Anyways, Wikipedia doesn't seem to have an article about, well, DVD cases and I have written one up. I was wondering if it is possible to, well, since it's mostly related to Anime, can help me code it for Wikipedia. Thanks.
http://www.otakuanime.com/article-dvdcases.htm —Preceding unsigned comment added by TuxedoInferno (talk • contribs)
- Well... posting a link on Anime for the sole purpose of explaining DVD cases doesn't make much sense at all. A new article about DVD cases? I'm not sure how encyclopedic that is. It may be interesting and factual, but remember, you need to keep a neutral point of view and the article has to be licensed under the GFDL in order to be eligible for inclusion on Wikipedia. If you have any more questions, please ask. — Ambush Commander(Talk) 02:57, 25 January 2006 (UTC)
-
- Thanks for your quick reply. Well, I was looking around for some information of type of DVD cases around (you know, there are so many hooks that hold the DVD cases), but not much information about them, like what the names called it, who makes those cases, are they bad, are they good? Advantage or not? Oh, that article below is actually what I wrote and I would like to put something on Wikipedia that somehow seem a little new. That's why I ask for a little help here, want to get things right.
-
-
- I believe that you could be a little bit more general in the title, like Disk case, because these cases don't have to store DVDs. Since it's your article, you probably want to state on the website that it is licensed under the GFDL. But please understand the implications of this license (such as the granting of perpetual rights) before you start stamping it on your stuff. — Ambush Commander(Talk) 03:52, 25 January 2006 (UTC)
-
-
-
- Oh, my article written on my site is just for that site. I'm just gonna used that as a base if I can rewrite one here at Wikipedia (to look more of an information here rather then a POV on my site). Since I worked with Anime companues, my article is pretty much reflected that. I don't know what you mean about the GFDL part, but I'll look into it. (TuxedoInferno 03:58, 25 January 2006 (UTC))
-
-
-
-
- Okay. What you can do (also good for experimenting with Wikitext) is start a personal userpage like User:TuxedoInferno/Disk case and create the article there, then move it to Disk case when you're done and copyright issues are cleared up. — Ambush Commander(Talk) 03:59, 25 January 2006 (UTC)
- Good idea and I hope I can ask you to help me on my little English, too. :) By the way, what copyrights are you asking for? Pictures, images, texts? I'm not good with these kinda things. (TuxedoInferno 04:04, 25 January 2006 (UTC))
-
-
-
- Basically, everything that is on Wikipedia is licensed under the GFDL. While this prevents blatant cut and paste plagiarism incidents, it also prevents contributors from writing text for Wikipedia and saying "Only Wikipedia can use it" (because that's not what the GFDL is all about: we're all about free content). So if we want to use your pictures/images on Wikipedia, they must be licensed under GFDL. Regarding text, well, it's probably better to play the safe side and license that in GFDL too (even if you're not directly copy-pasting it to Wikipedia). P.S. Your English is fairly good, methinks. — Ambush Commander(Talk) 04:10, 25 January 2006 (UTC)
-
- Is it my site that I need to sign up for the GFDL? If so, how do you do that? Well, those pictures of those disc cases, it's me who made them and took them with my camera, so not really an issue with the copyrights. Boy, it's confusing.
No, GFDL is not a service you sign up for ;-) When you create something, the US government automatically assigns you copyright. These give you exclusive rights to the stuff you make. When you see stuff on the web, you sometimes see "All Rights Reserved", that means that the creator retains all these exclusive rights.
A license gives people permission to do things: in effect, you are granting the user certain rights, such as the right to reproduce the file, to make changes to it and redistribute those changes, etc. GFDL is one such license. The most salient points are that "it stipulates that any copy of the material, even if modified, carry the same license". The license grants perpetual rights, so it is sort of irrevokable (although, as long as you retain the copyright, you may grant other rights to other people under different licenses, or cease granting GFDL licenses (even though anyone who originally "got" the license still has the right to redistribute)).
You may be interested in reading about the open source movement, which explains quite a bit of the rationale for such a system even though it is more pertinent to code.
As to how to license you stuff, you simply follow the instructions on the GFDL page, which basically requires you to add a snippet to the end of your text as well as a copy of the license. — Ambush Commander(Talk) 22:15, 25 January 2006 (UTC)
[edit] defence of edit to Cowboy Bebop
Hi. I've seen your edit comment after I removed the deprecated {{background}}. In my defence, I didn't remove an important link, as it was already linked (and still is) in the next sentence. If you feel that it also needs the link at the top of the section, {{details}} might be better than {{main}}, as it is also used for several other sections of the article. Cheers. --Scott Davis Talk 03:35, 31 January 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Linkspamming
I notice that you remove a lot of links that you regard as linkspam. I understand that you want to keep Wikipedia's content in high respects, but some of this is overkill. Many of the sites that you have removed are deserving of a spot under links on that page. I would like you to think twice before removing a site like.
Also, for instance, the Fullmetal Alchemist page contains many links to non-FMA sites.24.28.119.202 05:43, 31 January 2006 (UTC)

- I have the knowledge to verify the summaries, but, unfortunantely, not the time. I'm interested in seeing what you anons and new users can come up with, so I'll make some edits here and there concerning stylistic matters, but you're doing a great job getting the content out. I hope I answered your question... (not really sure what your last sentence is about). — Ambush Commander(Talk) 02:23, 2 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Vandalism of Salem Witch Trials
Hi, I think your idea about dropping the lists is a good one. You might consider taking an interest in Institut Le Rosey as well. It has exactly the same problem. A lot of anons add names to the list of people who supposedly attended that school, and I'm sometimes not sure whether it's a valid edit or deliberate vandalism. [edit] Re: Use on talk page
Well IANAL, but I'm sure it could qualify for fair use (at least in some cases) speaking from a strictly legal perspective. The problem in this case is that Wikipedia policy explicitly doesn't allow fair use images outside articles (feel free to link to existing used fair use images though). If you need a fair use image as "proof" for whatever I would suggest uploading it somewhere else (like Photobucket or whatever), unless it already appear online and then link to it off-site instead. Fair use images on the Wikipedia servers will as a matter of policy get deleted if they do not appear in actual articles, so this would be a better long term solution anyway IMHO. --Sherool (talk) 22:14, 8 February 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Maintaining Fullmetal Alchemist talk page
Hi there! I'm fairly new around here, maybe about 6 months into it, but I was looking over the Fullmetal Alchemist talk page, and I was wondering if I could help out in any way. I have seen a copy of the entire series, Japanese, and almost all English episodes. I'm a reliable source, but I'm having trouble getting my user page started. I'm usually on 4-5 times a week, and more than willing to help out. I'm excited to become a bigger part of Wiki, and would like to get better at fixing articles, and starting them too. If you need, help, please let me know!Aeris of Iniquity 01:36, 9 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Vandal
Hi. I found you at random from the list of admins. There is a user that keeps deleting the Shi'a Muslim pov from a article. Could you take a look and see if the actions are appropriate? [1]
I was thought that Wikipedia wanted to represent all views. In case the user says it is not relevant as a view, then the user is removing it as a simple fact, also a violation so far i have learned.
Simply put: No mater how the user argues, that information can not be removed in its entirety--Striver 03:55, 23 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Root page
Thanks for updating the template syntax. I don't claim to understand this at present, and am happy to have others help. Trying to introduce Root page has involved a lot of work trying to understand various detailed issues people have raised regarding policy and procedures, and I'm getting a bit weary of it, but would be dissapointed to see it fail after so much effort. Like Light current I really just want to get on an use it - I like writing best. --Lindosland 12:38, 28 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Golden Gate bridge
That's my photograph, one I'm quite pleased with. I originally set it in the "suicides" section, because I figured that it had a sort of "golden end" quality about it, but i didn't want to be too insensitive. Somebody else moved it up when they put in a more suicide-related photograph.
The article is quite long and can take quite a few photographs without looking cluttered, otherwise I'd opt for a Gallery approach, as in Tower Bridge. No need to reply to this. --Jumbo 03:24, 1 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] RV on pH[2]
You've reverted to a previous version. The one you reverted from was the correct one. One uses square brackets [] to indicate concentration of a chemical. The superscript of the + is also correct (it is H + Ions, not H + Ions. These should anyway be converted to mathematical formulas, using <math>...</math>. I won't revert as that might be seen as an edit war, however I urge you to considder reverting the article yourself, or give me green light for doing so. I believe you edited in good faith, so no problem really :) Thanks, -- vidarlo 22:31, 6 May 2006 (UTC)
- Hi, please read the context that the formula is in, and note that we're not describing the concentration of the ions, but rather the activity of the ions (the definition given on the Wikipedia page is somewhat deficient, but [3] and [4] should help clear things up.) If this is unclear, we should fix things in the text to make it more so. The more common (but incorrect for high concentrations) formula for pH is supplied immediately below the more accurate definition.
- Regarding the particular revert you posted, note that I did have to merge in a few changes, so that revert is not completely representative of the work I did on the article: I suggest checking out this diff. I looked over the text and could not find any instances where the ion's charge was incorrectly subscripted, however, note that elements are not italicized, and H + is the proper way to express elements (this also needs to be fixed throughout the entire article). I think you may be talking about , which, I assure you, is superscripted properly (it's just that it's a superscript in a subscript).
- Finally, even if I did make some mistakes in my revert, I also did many positive things (such as reinstate a deleted section, clarify about the literal meaning of pH and add a reference section). Thank you for not reverting immediately. If you have any more concerns, it would probably be a better idea to air them on the article's talk page. If you still think I'm wrong, blast away. :-) — Edward Z. Yang(Talk) 00:07, 7 May 2006 (UTC)
-
- I saw that you did a lot good with that revert, but I merely wanted to tell that not anything was perfect ;) For the italicized stuff in <math>...</math> I suggest using \text{foo}^+ to avoid that. IMHO, the mathematical mode should be used in such cases, as it is easier and quicker to write. Anyway, I see your point :). vidarlo 11:54, 7 May 2006 (UTC)

- pH needs a lot of cleanup, yeah, it isn't a perfect revert. There really is no reason why pH shouldn't be a featured article. It's so high up there in Google. — Edward Z. Yang(Talk) 21:54, 7 May 2006 (UTC)

A while ago, there were some anons fighting over which link was the "real" one to link to, so I assumed that changing it was part of that old conflict. [edit] Talk:T'ai Chi Ch'üan
Greetings! I'm pretty sure what happened is that some other editors changed the name of the article, possibly twice, without making a redirect from the old name(s). So I think we may have had Talk:T'ai Chi Ch'uan and Talk:Tai Chi Chuan archived, either of which could have become redlinked when the name was recently changed to Talk:T'ai Chi Ch'üan? I was aware that the name had been changed recently, but I wasn't too involved with the change. I didn't remember to subsequently check up on the archives afterwards, my bad... --Fire Star 火星 14:17, 16 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Deja Vu, Synchronicty, Carl Jung
Hello, you blocked my IP address due to my correction of the date of publication of Jung's On Synchronicity on the Deja Vu page. The 1966 date that was there is the date of publication of a collection of works and not the original paper. I know the paper is not from 1966 because I've seen it in the bookstore with a 50's copyright date. Also, Jung died in 1961. Also, the bibliography on the Carl Jung page lists 1952, so I edited the Deja Vu page to match. This is the only edit I've ever made to Wikipedia, and it is hardly vandalism, please unblock my IP.
Thanks, Aaron —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.19.25.224 (talk • contribs)
- While I did rollback your edit and posted a warning on your talk page, I did not block your IP address (after all, you can still edit!)
- It's good that you're disputing this, I did a casual online search, found two sites that referenced 1966 and figured that was the correct date. The fact that he died in 1961 is quite convincing, and I believe you.
- However, it would still be nice if you could find an online source that gave the correct date, as I'm sure another casual Wikipedian may see that and think it's the incorrect date.
- Once again, your IP was not blocked (I'm not as block-happy as some of the other admins) but subtle misinformation is a problem around here, so when you do changes like that, make sure you give rationale in your edit summary and source your claims. — Edward Z. Yang(Talk) 14:46, 30 July 2006 (UTC)
-
- I didn't think you had blocked me, but I went to the sandbox and it gave me a message that I couldn't edit since I was blocked. It may have been for some other reason, but I just assumed. :) Obviously, I was able to edit this page, and I'm not seeing the message now, so I don't know what that was about.
-
- Anyway, like I said, the Carl Jung page in Wikipedia lists 1952, so I just made it match. I'll see if I can find an additonal source.
-
- Thanks,
- Aaron

In template talk:indent you said:
Indenting This doesn't apply to spacing. Why not use the CSS text-indent? — Edward Z. Yang(Talk) 18:46, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
What's Zat?
I can use a mentor. I'm a hardware engineer primarily with a BSCE and 2X master's but have avoid scripts and more modern CS stuff in general with some cause--we all can't be good at everything. Hence my script and HTML and wiki markup skills are on a big learning curve. While I know 'about' the existance of the Wikipedia:(Msomething).CSS file (I know how to find the name when needed-I'm in a hurry now! Forgive!) that defines things like class=sisterprojects, wikitables and such, I can even get a good sense of parts, but I'm not fluent with such, nor follow your reference. Don't know anything about Unicodes and font schemes either, save I know the order of the latter matters in some cases (Indent and Space were one such) and that is messing with those on two other sister projects.
So what do you mean. Think WikiBooks template WikiPtmp shows that ugly square box when used in text. But they don't have the info box classes either. So someone that may know someone that can lead me to who can fix that over there is a welcome asset... as is someone who could explain what you meant with such a blythe query.
Not to slam you, but do keep in mind that there are a lot of lay editors out here! (Even if I'm only half such). I'd had a longer post to you but lost it since I overwrote the thing before previewing the message on this browser window while working over in another and needed to check a URL... Normally overwriting the address bar just means backing back to the edit page and finishing... but forgot the preview.
Alas, the wife's nagging. Gotta go.

Users are free to interpret as they wish, but no slight was implied or explicit in the words, tone or essential message. Regards, (aeropagitica) 23:58, 7 September 2006 (UTC)

- Your tone was fine. What frustrated the user was that there was no way to get back to you (the semi-protected talk page). Is semiprotection really that necessary? — Edward Z. Yang(Talk) 00:00, 8 September 2006 (UTC)

- Yes, I caught that too. Both Tip02 and CrookToe appear to be puppets of Mattisse (more info at User_talk:(aeropagitica)#Comment without context). If you are an admin, could you put the puppet master tag back on Mattisse? It seems she asked another admin to protect her page, then removed the tag just before it was protected. So only an admin can restore it... —Hanuman Das 01:37, 8 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Link fix
Hi, if you get a change could you run the link fix bot on Frank Macfarlane Burnet. Thanks. --Peta 23:35, 3 October 2006 (UTC)

- Thanks. I'd be neat if a recommendation for the link fix bot could be built into AndyZ's peer review bot.--Peta 00:30, 4 October 2006 (UTC)
- What criteria would it use though? — Edward Z. Yang(Talk) 01:02, 4 October 2006 (UTC)
- Sadly I don't know anything about bots, I just think it would be useful if people were forced to check their links more often - and the automated peer review seemed like a good time to suggest it to editors.--Peta 01:04, 4 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Timur
IP: 85.102.187.247 is deleting sources in the above mentioned article, and keeps deleting to a wrong version. I think the page needs protection. Tājik 18:33, 8 October 2006 (UTC)
- Is it possible for you to have a look at the article 'Timur'? User Tajik tries to falsify the older text about his ethnicity. Furthermore you can have a look at the article 'Turco-Mongol' to be able to understand why his ethnicity was written as Turco-Mongol. I suggested to talk with him but he didn't reply. Thanks.

- Currently investigating. Note that both of you have been blocked for 3RR, which, Tajik, is quite disappointing noting that you are an experienced editor and have already been blocked previously on 3RR. — Edward Z. Yang(Talk) 22:17, 8 October 2006 (UTC)

- After having reviewed the extensive talk page discussion on the subject, I believe you guys need to stop citing encyclopedias and find some primary and secondary sources, as well as come to an agreement on what the term ethnicity means, weighing in all the different aspects from the primary blood/genealogy aspect to the culture/linguistic/etc aspects. In short, make a decision! Consolidate your arguments, and present them in the article together. — Edward Z. Yang(Talk) 23:10, 8 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Afghanistan
Could you please have a look at Afghanistan. User:NisarKand is kind of vandalizing. I had to revert several vandalism-like edits. Just have a look at the history of the article: [5]. Especially this one: [6] Tājik 16:27, 9 October 2006 (UTC)

- Hi admin. While you are at it, could you also have a look at the articles Ahmad Shah Abdali and Ahmad Shah Durrani. I am not familiar with merging articles, but these two must be merged! Tājik 23:38, 9 October 2006 (UTC)
-
-
- They're almost identical, so what you need to do is edit Ahmed Shah Abdali, copy paste Ahmad Shah Durrani over it, and then click show changes to see what's different. Then, open another edit page for Ahmed Shah Abdali and merge in the good stuff. Then, redirect Ahmad Shah Durrani to the main article. — Edward Z. Yang(Talk) 23:53, 9 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Possible doppelganger
Hi, I am an admin, but I'd like a little outside assistance on this case. User:67.53.78.15 appears to be posting on multiple talk pages while emulating the signatures of multiple non-existent users. Obviously something's amiss, although I'm not exactly what I should do in this case. Help requested. — Edward Z. Yang(Talk) 02:02, 27 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Use of transclusion?
Your post at here lead me here which lead me here looking for program help. I've run across the same talk page problem as you. Above, you posted
"If you initiate a discussion on my talk page, I will reply on my talk page, but, I will notify you on your talk page via a short statement (ex. ==RE: Subject== See reply on my talk page) and will do this every time a post a reply. This way, not only are conversations not fragmented, but you will know if I've acknowledged your comment."
I think it would be a nice to have a transclusion option located next to "This is a minor edit" and "Watch this page" just above the button where you "Save Page". For example, if the "Transclude this page" option is checked, this thread also would appear on my talk page via transclusion and my pressing the thread "edit" link on my talk page for that transcluded thread would bring me back here to post. Your responses, of course, would appear here and on my talk page. I think this will solve the user talk page fragmented conversation problem. Could you created such a "Transclude this page" option? -- Jreferee (Talk) 16:37, 6 July 2007 (UTC)
- I don't think, based on my knowledge of MediaWiki internals, it would be possible. There are multiple things that would need to be implemented: multiple edits with one page save, transclusion of sections (which the core developers probably won't like very much) etc. — Edward Z. Yang(Talk) 16:43, 11 July 2007 (UTC)
- Since my post above, I figured out that transclusion may eat up to much resource. How about a bot that goes back and forth between two talk pages using
subst:
command to substitute thread posts into the otherwise fragmented discussion? There's gotta be a way to crack this fragmented discussion problem. -- Jreferee (Talk) 18:06, 11 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Replaceable fair use Image:Drill sheet.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Drill sheet.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
- On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 7 days after this notification, per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. — Carl (CBM · talk) 02:40, 20 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Oboe
Adjusting the position of the reed doesn't work. It causes the tone to warble on certain notes. --Oboeboy 12:19, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
- While I'd agree that adjusting the position of the reed should be your last resort, it would be incorrect to claim that it "doesn't work". It does lower pitch (this is the same for all wind instruments). If you'd like, we can add a note to that statement stating that, unlike other instruments, adjusting the position of the reed is not standard practice. — Edward Z. [edit] AfD nomination of Our Country
I have nominated Our Country, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Our Country (2nd nomination). Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. [edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:Red Eye (drug).jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:Red Eye (drug).jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 20:42, 30 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Into the Wild.png
Thanks for uploading Image:Into the Wild.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 18:47, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] FanFiction.Net
A proposed deletion template has been added to the article FanFiction.Net, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}}
to the top of FanFiction.Net. Karanacs (talk) 19:27, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Redirects on LinkFix
It looks like you might not get this message any time soon (seeing that your last edit was in April), but I felt like pointing it out anyway: that your old LinkFix project, while excellent in its intentions, is (in my humble opinion) making a mistake in finding redirect links to be "bad." (As you've probably already seen, that's not the current policy). When you find the time, could you perhaps update the section on its page that explains why redirects are targeted to (at least) mention the current policy on WP:Redirect? Thanks!
