[edit] Radio Northsea International (RNI)

Paul Harris's book Broadcasting from the High Seas (Edinburgh, Paul Harris Publishing, 1976, ISBN 0-904505-07-3) suggests that the Government may have suspected that RNI's shortwave equipment was being used to send coded messages to unfriendly countries.

I dont get this. The UK government jammed the MEDIUMwave signal but left the Shortwave and FM signals intact.

If alleged espionage was the concern surely they should have jammed the shortwave signal as well/instead.

And how were these coded messages supposedly conveyed (pre-arranged sequences of records ???) Surely Stasi, KGB or Libyan agents had access to less cumbersome methods of communication ?

In any case they would hardly be underwriting a radio station which campaigned for the conservatives ?

This is all interesting stuff. It is, however, more relevant to a separate RNI article, which does not yet exist, rather than to the Edwin Bollier biography.Phase4 11:10, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
Agreed - Radio Nordsee International redirects here but definitely deserves a separate article. However, to address the jamming issue: 1) Paul Harris definitely makes this claim in his book, but it is possible he may be a conspiracy theorist. 2) Another alternative explanation is interference to foreign stations and/or emergency services, but there seems to have been some Government secrecy about the affair which would naturally fuel paranoid suspicions. Merge this with Meister into MEBO - nothing is said about the individuals, only the company.--Konalgia911 14:27, 29 July 2007 (UTC)

That's correct. Spying from the North Sea is difficult to explain as well.--Konalgia911 14:31, 29 July 2007 (UTC)
Harris does not say that. Psycho's hatred of Edwin Bollier is baseless. --Konalgia911 14:31, 29 July 2007 (UTC)
