The incident which led to his VC should be described in neutral language. Phrases like "magnificent example" are not appropriate unless in a quotation. See WP:NPOV for more information. --Gimme danger 01:02, 12 June 2007 (UTC)

The words "magnificent example" are a quotation from the citation for the award of the VC published in The London Gazette. This is the official reason for the award.
