Edwin Gorman

Edwin Frederick Gorman (Born September 25, 1892 in Buckingham, Quebec - March 10, 1963) was a Canadian ice hockey defenceman who spent parts of four seasons in the NHL during the 1920s. He was a fine passer who could play a tough physical game when necessary.
Gorman played with the local senior club then ventured to Pittsburgh to play for the senior Duquesne squad and the USAHA's AA team. He returned to Canada in 1917–18 with the Pembroke Munitions club and played seven years in the Ottawa area. Other teams on which he excelled included the St. Brigid's and Montagnards.
In 1924–25 he beat out Lionel Hitchman for defence and scored 11 goals for the NHL's Ottawa Senators and remained in the Nation's Capital for three years in total. His solid play on defence helped the franchise win the Stanley Cup in 1927. Prior to the 1927–28 season Gorman was traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs for cash. After playing 19 games for the club he was suspended when he refused an assignment to the Toronto Ravinas Can-Pro circuit. He ended up in the league anyway after he was traded to the Kitchener Milionaires and played 12 games before retiring.
