Edward Qiu (October 20, 1942 - May 12, 1993), born in China, was a significant author in mainland Asia. He wrote in a unique style, using powerful imagery and strong adjectives, often employing non-linear plot lines and switching viewpoints from character to character. His popularity was mainly constricted to mainland Asia, but his most successful book Night of Ostrich Bells was also mildly popular in Japan. He passed away on the 12th of May 1993 due to heart failure.
