- Edward F. Murphy — (????–1908) —Medal of Honor recipient for his bravery at Milk River, Colorado on September 29, 1879 during the Plains Indian Wars as a Corporal in Company, D, 5th United States Regular Cavalry, awarded on April 23, 1880.
- Edward Murphy (Medal of Honor); Medal of Honor recipient for "gallantry in action" during the Indian Wars
- Edward Murphy (speed skating). 1928 and 1932 Winter Olympics.
- Edward Murphy, Jr., United State's Senator (1836-1911): Find-A-Grave. Mayor of Troy, New York from 1875 to 1883. He was elected as a Democrat to the United States Senate and served from March 4, 1893, to March 3, 1899.
- Major Edward A. Murphy, Jr., undoubted namesake of Murphy's Law.
- Edward Murphy — (????–1924) —Medal of Honor recipient for his bravery in an engagement with Apache Indians in the Chiricahua Mountains, Arizona on October 20, 1869 during the Plains Indian Wars as a Private in Company G, 1st United States Cavalry.
