Edward John Larson is an American historian and legal scholar. Now the Hugh & Hazel Darling Professor of Law at Pepperdine University, he was formerly Herman E. Talmadge Chair of Law and Richard B. Russell Professor of American History at the University of Georgia.[1]

He won the 1998 Pulitzer Prize for History for his book Summer for the Gods: The Scopes Trial and America's Continuing Debate Over Science and Religion.[1] The book argues that "Inherit the Wind" (both play and movie) misrepresented the actual Scopes Trial.

He graduated from Williams College and received his law degree from Harvard University and his Ph.D. in history from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
