Edward King (author)

Edward King was an American author, whose 1875 publication, formally titled The Great South: A Record of Journeys in Louisiana, Texas, the Indian Territory, Missouri, Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, Kentucky, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, and Maryland,[1] is an important historical document with extensive descriptions of African American church music and other subjects. Each section of The Great South was published in an issue of Scribner's Magazine, a popular periodical.[2]
