Edward Ilsley

Edward Ilsley (1838–1926) became the first Roman Catholic Archbishop of Birmingham, England in 1911, having previously been Bishop of Birmingham following Bishop William Ullathorne.

Ilsley was born in Stafford in 1838 and died in 1926, having retired in 1921.

He gave his name to Archbishop Ilsley Catholic Technology College in Acocks Green, Birmingham

The correct spelling is Ilsley, not Illsley as it sometimes appears.
