Edward Elliot
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Sir Edward Elliot was the reforming British governor of Madras (now Chennai) between 1803 and 1820[1] who incorporated a large number of surrounding villages to form the core of the modern city. He was succeeded in 1820 by Sir Thomas Munro.
For many years one of the city's major streets was named Edward Elliot Road but it has now been renamed Dr Radhakrishnan Salai. An area of Chennai is still called Elliot's Beach.
