Edward Collins

Edward Collins (born 1 February 1941) is a former Irish Fine Gael politician. He first stood for election in the Waterford constituency in a by-election in 1966, but was unsuccessful. He was first elected to Dáil Éireann for the Waterford constituency in the 1969 general election and was re-elected at each subsequent election until he was defeated in the 1987 general election. He served as a Minister of State at the Department of Industry & Energy from 1981–82 and 1982–83. He served as Minister of State at the Department of Trade, Commerce & Tourism from 1983 until his dismissal in 1986, after refusing the Taoiseach Garret FitzGerald's request to resign.[1]
