Edward Butterfield

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Edward Banks Butterfield was a first class cricketer who played one match for Yorkshire County Cricket Club in 1870.

A right handed batsman he scored 8, opening the innings, and 10, batting at number 4, against Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge. Modest though this contribution was every run proved vital as Yorkshire won a thrilling game by a margin of just 2 runs as Nottinghamshire were bowled out for 172 in their second innings, by far the highest score of the game.

Born on October 22, 1848 in Keighley he died there, aged 50, on May 6 1899.
