[edit] Sam Houston School
It would be interesting to see some history of Sam Houston Elementary School on East Houston Street. I went there for 1st - 6th grade in 1971-76, and I still have fond memories of the place. I remember the nuclear fallout shelter signs in the basement, for instance. As a kid, I lived 3 houses down from the school, and told myself that I'd run to the school when/if The Bomb was dropped on Marshall.
A teacher told me it was built in 1901 - is that true?. Why was it painted PINK?! I haven't been around there in many years - what is happening with it now?
- The building no longer houses Sam Houston, and has been abandonned and in disrepair for some time. Sports are still played on the grounds by the neighborhood kids though. -JCarriker 02:57, 23 May 2006 (UTC)
