Education Department (Hong Kong)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Education Department (Abbreviation: ED; Traditional Chinese: 教育署, 教育司署 before 1983) was a government department in the Hong Kong Government. It was headed by the Director of Education.

It was folded into the Education and Manpower Bureau in 2003, following the passage of the Education Reorganization (Miscellaneous Amendments) Bill 2002 in the Legislative Council. [1] Before its abolishment the department was responsible for education matters in the territory, with the exception of post-secondary and tertiary education.
