Eduardas Kurskis (born October 17, 1976, in Šiauliai) is a Lithuanian professional footballer currently playing for FBK Kaunas as a goalkeeper.

He started his career with Kaunas before leaving for first-team action at hometown Kareda Šiauliai. He returned to Kaunas in 2000, where his performances earned him selection for the Lithuanian national side between 2002 and 2003. Kurskis then joined Scottish club Heart of Midlothian on loan from FBK Kaunas in January 2007, having previously played his entire career in his native country.[1] He made a surprise debut in a 2-1 defeat to Motherwell at Tynecastle on 8 December 2007, despite a lack of injuries to Hearts two first choice goalkeepers.

Kurskis then started against Rangers at Ibrox a week later, a match in which Hearts more than held their own before he gifted the game to Rangers as he caught and then threw the ball over his own goal-line in the 87th minute following a looping deflection off Lee McCulloch. [2]

Despite this high profile and costly blunder, Kurskis surprisingly then went on to start against Inverness Caledonian Thistle at Tynecastle in the very next game, only to produce another error-ridden performance, culminating in a second booking and a red card for violent conduct. Having just equalised to make it 2-2, but having made all of their regulation substitutions, Hearts then had to place young defender Lee Wallace in goals, who subsequently conceded a crucial third goal in the 3rd minute of injury time. This 3-2 home defeat is seen by many fans as being the nadir of Hearts 2007/2008 season, and Kurskis reputation amongst the support suffered drastically by implication.

A deeply unpopular player with the Hearts fans, who are traditionally used to a high quality of goalkeeper and expect total commitment from their players, Kurskis loan was cancelled on 26th March 2008 and he returned to Kaunas.
