Eduard Pleske

Eduard Pleske (1852 – 1904) (Russian:Эдуард Дмитриевич Плеске, Eduard Dmitrievich Pleske)

Eduard Pleske was born into a noble family in the Russian Empire. He was educated in the Alexander gymnasium. After graduating from the gymnasium he joined the Ministry of Finance. Pleske then joined the department of taxation were he worked until 1889. While in the department of taxation he climbed to the post of second in charge.

From the 16th of August 1903 to 4th of February 1904 Pleske served as the Minister of Finance. His brief term was due to his ill health.

Eduard Pleske also held the position of Head of the State Bank of the Russian Empire, and his signature can be seen in many Russian banknotes dated 1895-1899.
