Edmund Whitelocke
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Edmund Whitelocke (1565 - 1608) was an English soldier, royal courtier and suspected conspirator.
Edmund was the elder brother of Sir James Whitelocke both being sons of Richard Whitelocke, a London merchant. He served as a soldier in France and later attached himself to the court of Queen Elizabeth I of England. He was suspected of taking part in both the Earl of Essex's rebellion and the Gunpowder Plot. He was imprisoned for the latter offence and, although he was most probably innocent, he remained for some time in the Tower of London.
