Edmonton municipal election, 1935

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The 1935 municipal election was held November 13, 1935 to elect a mayor and five aldermen to sit on Edmonton City Council and four trustees to sit on the public school board (Charles Gariepy, Thomas Malone, R D Tighe, and William Wilde were acclaimed to two year terms on the separate school board). Voters also approved a requirement that candidates for city council be required to own property.

There were ten aldermen on city council, but five of the positions were already filled: Hugh MacDonald, John Wesley Fry, Dick Foote, John McCreath, and James East were all elected to two year terms in 1934 and were still in office.

There were seven trustees on the public school board, but three of the positions were already filled: S. A. G. Barnes, Frederick Casselman, and Izena Ross had all been elected to two year terms in 1934 and were still in office. The same was true of the separate school board, where A J Crowe, J O Pilon, and J O'Hara were continuing.
