Webdog1000 (talk · contribs) I've been trying out Wikipedia for awhile and I've wanted to know what you think. I haven't had much experience with editing wikis, but I've really wanted to jump in and give it a try. I haven't gotten any postings on my talk page, and I just wanted to see how you guys think I'm doing, and any advice you have to make better edits and to learn more about editing. How can I get more involved, even though I don't have much time nor experience? Webdog1000 19:12, 28 May 2007 (UTC)

Reviews

Someone just welcomed you, so that's taken care of. A couple of tips for you:

  • You can create "wikilinks" by enclosing the article name in brackets. Thus, [[Canada]] takes you to Canada; you don't need to type in the whole URL. There are other tricks and shortcuts you will learn, such as signing your username with ~~~~ on talk pages but not articles.
  • I reverted your edits to "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" because I didn't think they fit within the parameters of the article, and there wasn't a reliable source. It's demonstrable that the song contains an unsavory word, but the resulting action needs to be cited and contextualized. Wikipedia's primary policies relating to this issue are WP:ATT and WP:NPOV.

Other than that, I see no problems. You're just starting out, so you have a lot to learn. Please ask me any questions if you need help, or if I'm not around ask at the help desk. I wish you good luck. YechielMan 07:58, 31 May 2007 (UTC)

Questions

  1. Of your contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
'Well, I haven't written any articles or anything, but I have been confident with some small edits like Ratatouille (film) and Boulevard of Broken Dreams edit 1 and Boulevard of Broken Dreams edit 2. I also found Crack cocaine vandalized, and after consulting the Wikipedia:Contact us/Article problem/Vandalism reverted it.'
  2. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
'I haven't had any interaction with other users.'
