Review from Kakofonous

  • Well, I might as well start. I notice immediately that your greatest focus on WP is vandalism reversion, with 305 edits to AIV, quite an accomplishment, as well as sizable edits to UAA (47) and RFPP (58). I assume you've also tagged quite a few articles fallind under the criteria for speedy deletion, though I cannot view them as I am not a sysop. You've also helped out at AfC a couple times, which is excellent, as it is an oft-neglected area of the project. And, of course, we can't forget edit summary usage, which is at 100%/100% at the moment, always a big issue at RfA… though not terribly important, in my view. I would personally support you there if you were to nominate yourself or accept one from another user. I believe users that demonstrate a need for the tools, which you have clearly done, should receive them. I fear, however, that if you were to put forward a request for adminship, at least at this time, it would not pass. The reason is that, while your housekeeping tasks help the encyclopedia immensely, your content writing does not appear to. As far as I can see (and please, please correct me if I am in error) your only major article writing task was/is at Multnomah County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue, which would not be nearly enough for those !voters at RfAs that tend to focus on aspects of the nominee's experience besides housekeeping. Your User talk namespace edits are also <1.8 times (I used a calculator) your mainspace edits. Those comments are nearly (probably all) very civil and respectful, which is a very good thing, as is helping and informing other users at AN/I and AN. But even this may not convince other editors of your readiness to use admin tools effectively, and the issues raised at both your first and second RfAs still stand in your way. Please ask me any questions about this review here or at my talk page, when/if they arise. Kakofonous (talk) 20:03, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
    • Thank you for the kind, and honest review. It is much appreciated. I do have a question and a response to a few of your comments, the first being a few other articles that i have created, those being Portland Police Bureau and Multnomah County Sheriff's Office. And second, when you stated that the issues raised in my first and second RfA stand in my way from successfully passing and RfA, I would like to know which issues exactly so that i can improve upon those. If you are referring to the incident involving my status as a police cadet (raised in my second RfA) that has been easily resolved by removing the userbox from my userspace, and correcting it. Thanks, Tiptoety talk 00:29, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
      • What I meant by "the issues raised" were simply the issues I mentioned in the review that were also mentioned in the RfAs (ratio of talkspace to mainspace, etc.), not anything else that was covered in those RfAs. Regarding the other articles, I don't think that they would necessarily change the essentials of the review, because three articles versus one is not a huge difference. Questions

  1. Of your contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
Overall my best contributions to wikipedia come in the from of vandalism reverts and WP:CSD tagging. Article wise I feel that this article which i created is my best contribution to article space. I feel that it demonstrates my level of article writing want. I enjoy participating in threads on noticeboards such as WP:AN/I and WP:AN where i hope to inform and direct the user requiring help.
  2. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
While i have never been in a conflict over article content, which i feel is a great accomplishment, i have dealt with various trolls or misguided editors who feel that my actions in reverting their un constructive contributions where inappropriate. Like every other situation I respond to their query with respect, and always remember WP:BITE and WP:AFG. When a situation gets out of hand I turn to a third party, whether that be another user or a admin.
