[edit] SunStar Net
SunStar Net (talk · contribs) I have had two editor reviews so far, and this is my third one. My recent request for adminship failed due to some concerns, so I will attempt to discuss them here.
The first concern was that I am a sockpuppet. I am not a sockpuppet of anyone, but I am not a new user either. I have edited as an anon at various times in the past, very irregularly. I have used various IP addresses at different times in the past, have had an account at one point, but then returned.
I was introduced to Wikipedia by some friends in January 2005 , it was seen as a novelty site in the same way as YouTube or MySpace are nowadays.
I only made one edit to the Opel Astra article from an IP address in January 2005 - here, and also as an anon here, and here, as an anonymous user. However, the edits were from a friend's computer (but a shared IP address). I then lost interest in Wikipedia (and also did not have the time to edit it as well, due to unforeseen circumstances). I was then re-introduced to Wikipedia in September 2005, by a friend who is a now indefinitely-blocked user. He taught me everything I needed to know about Wikipedia, so if anyone wants to know why it seems odd, that is an explanation of it. It's not quite meatpuppetry (that was what he intended to get me to do, but I just reported him for vandal/trolling!)
He got me to try and vote on VfD's (the old votes for deletion system), but instead of that, I just reported his sockpuppets that were attacking the Wayne Rooney article. I used the name Bourne End (talk · contribs) then, and did intend to use it, but locked myself out of it after using it, because at the time, I did not know how to enable email on a Wikipedia account.
Unfortunately, other things in my life took over, so I didn't really have much time to be a participant in Wikipedia (not counting the occasional glance at it for reference), but I returned in October 2006, a year later. However, I did make one anonymous edit from a public terminal in a motorway service station - as seen here.
Now, I have more time to edit Wikipedia, which I didn't back then. Since October 2006, I've decided to edit Wikipedia as a full-time user, and not an occasional user as I was back then.
The other concern was not enough mainspace edits. I am working on improving this, through being a member of several WikiProjects: WikiProject Automobiles, WikiProject Graffiti, WikiProject Law Enforcement and WikiProject Films.
At the moment I'm slightly inactive due to off-wiki issues, don't worry if I'm not here a lot of the time, I will be more active in a few weeks from now.
All advice is welcomed. I would also like to know what I could improve on to become an admin here. I am already an admin at the Akan Wikibooks, as ak:b:User:SunStar Net and at the Cornish Wiktionary as kw:wikt:User:SunStar Net, so I have had experience on other Wikimedia projects.
Reviews
Your request for adminship was in January, about six months ago. Most of the opposition was a legitimate concern regarding your level of experience. Six months later, after you have maintained a consistent pattern of contributing at administrative pages such as WP:AIV and WP:AN, I think you have sufficient experience to reapply for WP:RFA.
Regarding the question of possible sock puppetry: I've taken on cases at Wikipedia:Suspected sock puppets. I did not review your case because there is no urgent need to do so, but the Checkuser at your RFA declared you innocent, and I believe your explanation that you edited from IP addresses is entirely plausible. I edited under IPs before I created an account. In fact, I still edit today from IPs when I don't feel like logging in. There's nothing wrong with that, and I'm sure many other users have done the same thing.
I don't know you well enough to nominate you for RFA, though I would support if you reapplied. Your chances of passing RFA will be improved if you devote more effort to writing the encyclopedia instead of putting out fires at the noticeboards. I'm not belittling the noticeboard work - I do some of it myself - but you should try to experience Wikipedia in multiple roles. The Community Portal (link on the left sidebar) is a good place to look for ways to help.
I wish you good luck. Shalom Hello 03:42, 5 August 2007 (UTC)

Questions
- Of your contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
- I am pleased with the fact that I can fix articles, and add knowledge that is obscure (but verifiable and notable. I often add this to automobile and geography-related articles.
I feel pleased when I have given my reasoning in AFD/XFD debates. I will cite policy related matters, etc.
- Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
- No major conflicts really, to be honest, probably because I don't edit many controversial articles. However, the only real conflict I've had is about my user and user talk pages, and that's from vandals who keep posting obscenities to my user/user talk pages.
