Sidatio (talk · contribs) It may be premature to request an editor review, but if we're doing something wrong here, we'd like to know sooner rather than later! We feel this is important because lately, we've become heavily involved in trying to clarify WP:LIST guidelines to avoid some of the conflicts we've been seeing over lists on the Articles for deletion page. This effort can be seen here.

We've created only two articles (Ryan's Well Foundation and H2O Africa) and seriously revamped only one (Sam Harris (singer), in the process of revamping Lifted Research Group, Knox County, Tennessee and James Solomon), but we have made edits on several others. What can we do better, and what are we doing right? Sidatio 02:51, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

Reviews

  • On your user page I found the notice that you are a husband and wife team sharing an account. I noticed you asked a related question here, but since that thread has been inactive for more than a year there's not going to be an answer there. Policy advises against role accounts, and they are generally frowned upon, so I strongly recommend you create a second account for one of you. If you're going to edit —and possible participate in AfD or other "vote-y" discussions— I further recommend disclosing your relationship on your user pages, as an eventual checkuser (in case of sockpuppetry allegations) would reveal your identical IP adresses and could lead to a block for both of you. Ideally, try not to engage in one and the same debate (be it AfD or any content disputes, for that matter) with both accounts.
With regard to general conduct and contributions, I noticed Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of Iranian women (2nd nomination), where you appeared to raise some dust, but since you are rather new to Wikipedia I'm confident that you're going to settle in with the sometimes hard to grasp written and unwritten AfD conventions. The article you started at Ryan's Well Foundation is a good thing as far as my judgement goes.
Other than that, I became aware of this ER when you provided an unofficial third opinion with regard to myself, which as I told you was well-formulated and the right thing to do. If you're interested in helping to resolve disputes, you may want to check out the mediation cabal, or WP:3. —AldeBaer 13:13, 15 August 2007 (UTC)
That's a good point, in regard to this account being "shared". We've mulled it over in regard to policy, and we've decided that I (the husband) will be the one who actually does the typing, with my wife looking over my shoulder as a second set of eyes. She does have my login information, but we have a "no secrets" policy between us that requires this. This should probably be clarified on our user page. Thanks for the input! Questions

  1. Of your contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
At present, we are most proud of our first article, Ryan's Well Foundation, which we feel really marked our arrival as "real" Wikipedia editors. A close second would be our current effort to clarify WP:LIST guidelines to try and defuse AfD tensions over lists.
  2. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
Funny you should ask that. We got into a rather serious face-off with User:71.232.176.63 that ended up spilling into an off-Wiki scare - that was our first real issue with an angry editor, and looking back, we wouldn't have even bothered addressing some of the things that user was saying. Still, we handled it, and it's over. Next was a rather heated debate with a list we nominated at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of Iranian women (2nd nomination). The first 24 hours of that AfD were something else - it seemed like we got blasted on all sides! But kept our chins up, countered with diplomacy and reason, and even earned the Barnstar of Good Humor from Axl. That debate also inspired us to try and find consensus to further define WP:LIST, in the hope that future AfDs would have more structure and less drama.
