[edit] ST47

ST47 (talk ยท contribs) I've been less active for the last few months and I'm going to start editing more instead of focusing entirely on WP:BRFA, and since I started that, 2 people have wanted to nominate me for RfA. I have finals coming up, so I don't really have time for that, but I do have time to edit some stuff, and I'm looking for some advice on what to do. I've been using lupin's live spellchecker and RC patrol, but what do we need? What's been going on the last few months? Most of all, what have I done recently that would be considered "bad"? Thanks! Your user and user talk pages demonstrate an enviable level of experience and maturity. I think you will have no trouble passing RFA whenever you choose to run for it. The only thing that might bother some people is that you haven't made a nontrivial mainspace edit since this one to Alcohol 120% - a span of more than 150 edits.

Some voters prefer that admins balance the skills of a researcher and a programmer. The fact is that Wikipedia has admins on both extremes. Some are "no big deal" editors who might happen to delete a bad article when they stumble across it, while others are so busy managing the noticeboards and backlogs that they leave no time for the simple joy of exposition.

If you would like a mainspace pursuit that doesn't require you to write much, I'd suggest categorization. One of my frequent haunts these days is Category:Uncategorized pages. These are some of the worst pages on Wikipedia - not categorized, not wikified, and in some cases not appropriate for an encyclopedia. But some of them are just fine, except that they are missing a category. Then you have to skim the article, see what it's about, and navigate the category tree to find the most specific branches. If you'd like more ideas, ask me on my talk page, or look at the Community Portal (link on the left sidebar).

I wish you good luck. YechielMan 08:36, 3 June 2007 (UTC)

Questions

  1. Of your contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
I don't really know. Should I be? I love the fact that I can contribute noticeably to such a big project, and the most prominent area is probably WP:BRFA and User:BAGBot and User:AccReqBot.
  2. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
There are the few users who I revert and who challenge it, and when that happens, I'll review it, there was a BRFA closing a few weeks ago that was appealed and I just backed off to allow it to go forward, and I get worried every time someone blocks one of my bots, but I've never been blocked or involved in mediation or *shudder* arbitration, so that must be a good sign, right?
