[edit] Politics rule

Politics rule (talk · contribs) I have been thinking about nominating myself for adminship within the next few months. I was curious of what you fellow Wikipedians think of my edits. Politics rule 23:12, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

  • Hello, Pat. As I said in your talk page, you should start fighting vandalism, participating in XfDs, and make some real content contributions to articles, not just changing dates and numbers in Politics-related articles. This should get you ready for adminship :-) Happy editing! --Boricuaeddie 23:17, 30 August 2007 (UTC)
  • I don't think that your conflict with Boricuaeddie was your "only" conflict; just a quick look through your archives and you can see that you often acuse users of vandalism when the edit wasn't vandalism, and a few other minor conflicts on RFAs. –sebi 06:19, 31 August 2007 (UTC)
So does me opposing people on RFA's mean I am in an conflict. Politics rule 12:34, 31 August 2007 (UTC)
No, I mean I have seen you get into a cafuffle over some of your participation in certain RFAs. Sigh, what I really meant was that you can't have only got into one conflict during your time here. –sebi 22:01, 31 August 2007 (UTC)
Sorry. I did not understand what you meant. =)Politics rule 01:17, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
  • You do a lot of valuable edits when it comes to politics, which is excellent, and I hope you keep it up. However, I do have a couple of concerns; upon looking at your Wikipedia-space contributions, a large amount of your edits to that namespace are to RfAs. If you want to be an administrator, you'll want to get involved with things like WP:AIV and WP:AFD, otherwise a lot of users will oppose you on that basis. You're involved with some WikiProjects, I see, so that's a huge bonus.
Speaking of RfAs, I would like to inform you of a concern I had with a comment I saw there. In this edit you strongly opposed the candidate. However, the candidate was a relatively new user as the time, and a "strong oppose" wasn't necessary, and can be seen as a violation of WP:BITE. Try not to strongly oppose new users, for the new user may think they've done something seriously wrong. New users need guidance and advice.
If you run for adminship anytime soon, you may have people oppose over civility concerns. For example, I noticed in these two edits [1] [2], you capitalized "strong" in "strong oppose", and in this edit you capitalized almost your entire edit summary, and part of your actual message. You should avoid doing that in future, as it's both unnecessary and often rude to capitalize entire words (as capitalized words look like you're shouting at someone). Some people will regard the fully-capitalized words as incivility (even though you're not an uncivil user), and will oppose over them.
Your recent edit summary usage has been perfect; keep this up. Edit summaries are always important. I guess you have the edit-summary notification activated if you forget a summary, but if you don't have it on, go into your preferences and enable it. That way, if you miss a summary, you'll be reminded. :)
My only concerns should be easy to fix. With actually attempting an RfA, as you said at the top of this editor review, wait for a few months. Doing so will avoid you getting opposed for the reasons I listed above. All I have to say now is...continue the good work you do! :) Acalamari 21:54, 2 September 2007 (UTC)

Questions

  1. Of your contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
My best contributions on Wikipedia have been to the United States Senate elections, 2008, and the United States Senate elections, 2010. I have also made contributions to many other Political related articles.
  2. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
I was in one with Boricuaeddie about Wikipedia not being a Social Network.[3] Since then, Boricaeddie and I have become good friends. That has been my only conflict.
