Jacroe (talk · contribs) Hey, I'm Jacroe. I usually hang around undoing vandlism and junk like that though I am fond of editing Math articles and Portals. I would like to be reviewed because I would want to see how I can be a better Wikipedian. Jac roeBlank 16:22, 21 June 2007 (UTC)

I'm a little confused by your answer to Q2. Normally readers interpret the question to say, have you disagreed with another editor over a position you held? But I think you were referring to a case that you mediated between two other users recently.

I glanced at that mediation case. First, I must express admiration. Mediation is a very difficult task. I don't have the patience for it, so I don't do it. It requires a commitment, both to stay involved for many days, and to uphold the integrity of Wikipedia and its user community.

However, I think you needed to be a little more hands-on in steering the discussion. Basically, you managed to secure page protection, which was good, and you used that as an opportunity for the disputants to work out their differences. However, you never referred to the substance of the dispute. Of course you don't want to take sides, except when one party is acting unreasonably, but at the same time you need to understand exactly what they're arguing about, and to say in the style of WP:3O, we have a statement under dispute, X says it's supported by reference Q, but Y says it's POV. Maybe we can find another reference R to state the opposite POV and wind up with a neutral POV, which is what we want. Try seeking advice from experienced mediators such as User:^demon to teach you how to be an effective mediator.

Regarding your article writing, I still consider you a new user, and I don't have much information to evaluate. Keep finding topics of interest to you, and keep sharing your knowledge with the rest of us.

I wish you good luck. YechielMan 14:30, 24 June 2007 (UTC)

Questions

  1. Of your contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
There are a few articles which I am pleased about. One is the tobyMac article. Another is the Portal:Computer security. Also ChaCha (search engine)
  2. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
I've only had one problem and it wasn't on an article, it was a mediation cabal case. I only asked the guy to just let us finish as we were almost done. And he did.
