Hemlock Martinis (talk ยท contribs) I've been here for a bit and was curious what input people had on my work so far, especially when it comes to areas to improve. Namely, what am I doing right (so I can keep on doing it) and what am I doing wrong (so I can stop doing it)? Hemlock Martinis 05:02, 29 March 2007 (UTC)

I think you're doing very well: A or maybe A-. Here's what I'd recommend:

  • A trivial point: when you record significant AFDs on your user page, you should link to the AFD discussion, not to the article itself because usually the article is deleted.
  • I see you used to do some significant article writing, but have relaxed from that. Your passion for citing references is well-placed, but you still make some mistakes - I saw one article where you put five cleanup tags, and User:Werdna removed four of them. Nevertheless, you should consider writing or expanding more articles. Either look through the Star Trek category, or look on the "requested articles" page, or subscribe to "Suggestbot."
  • Your main contribution has been to sort through categories. I'm a big believer in categorization: when I see an uncategorized page on WP:NPP or WP:DEP, and the page itself is valid, I try to supply a category or stub type. I'm happy that people like you take care to ensure that categories remain usable and useful. My concern, not having experience with category work, is - doesn't it drive you crazy? I could imagine how boring it is to create a new subcategory and go to 100 pages, and replace the category links, one by one, and then yet another one. If you ever get bored, you can apply your category knowledge to WP:CFD and the related WP:SFD and WP:UCFD - I'm surprised you didn't claim to be active there already. And if you get bored of that too, there's always WP:BJAODN.

I wish you good luck. YechielMan 23:47, 29 March 2007 (UTC)

Questions

  1. Of your contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
I am particularily proud of the cleanup I've done on Law in Star Trek, which involved properly attributing all 60+ episodes cited in the article. I am also proud of my diffusion of Category:Extrajudicial prisoners of the United States, which had almost over a thousand articles in it before I got there. Overall though, I'm proud of any of my diffusion and categorization work.
  2. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
I try to avoid stressful situations on Wikipedia and so far cannot recall any that caused me any difficulties.
