[edit] Evadb

Evadb (talk ยท contribs) I've been at Wikipedia for a little less than a year. I'd just like an indication of how I've been doing over the last few months. I took a break for a while, but am now back and want to be the best editor I can. I'm mostly involved in mainspace work, so I don't think I need advice before an RfA. Reviews

Hello, I took almost a half hour to review a lot of your stuff. It's interesting. Here's what I found:

  1. Your article writing skills are outstanding. I wasn't able to find a large block of text that was all yours, but I tracked down a diff where you placed a properly formatted reference in the John Brooke-Little article. I'm sure you've done that many times. I can't think of a way for you to improve there.
  2. You don't get into conflicts often, but when you do, they cause you stress, and you have trouble dropping the issue. I found two examples of this. One was that nasty dialogue with IP Address, but I only found his comments on your talk page; your comments seem to have disappeared from his. His behavior was a blatant and repeated violation of WP:NPA, but a later commenter said both sides were to blame. What you should have done was contact an admin after the third or fourth time, on WP:AN, and let the dispute resolution process run its course. Much the same can be said for your dispute with Mel Etitis, which you referenced in your unsuccessful RFA. As I noted to a previous review subject, the capitalization of a single word is not a big deal, and should not cause you such stress even if you are right.
  3. If you plan to run for adminship soon, I would advise a couple of things:
    1. Maybe wait for one or two more months of activity to build your resume further.
    2. Of course, note the FA promotion in your answer to #2 - it, and many of your Did You Know's, happened after the last RFA.
    3. Try participating in some WP:XFD discussions, such as WP:AFD, to convince those who opposed last time that you understand how to apply the content policies.
    4. That being said, I would be willing to support you even today.

I wish you good luck. YechielMan 03:59, 15 February 2007 (UTC)

Questions

  1. Of your contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
I did a lot of work on John Brooke-Little, getting it to FA status. Right now, I'm working on getting Bart King to the same place. Other than that, I've been trying to get other officers of arms articles written and doing other work with heraldry and cricket.
  2. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
Well...I left the 'pedia for a month or two at one point because of combined stress at home and online. I've only really been involved in conflicts with one other editor. His name was User:IP Address, but he hasn't been active for a few months and most of the folks I talked to noted that I was usually pretty civil.
