[edit] Espresso Addict

Espresso Addict (talk ยท contribs) I've just returned from an extended partial wikibreak (see my answer to question 2), and feel it would be beneficial to ask for advice from more experienced editors at this point. Most of my experience so far has been in creating and editing articles in my areas of expertise, though I've dipped my toe into the murky waters of AfD on occasion, I try to contribute to RfAs, and I'm a somewhat inactive member of several WikiProjects. Thanks in advance for any advice. Espresso Addict 01:23, 11 July 2007 (UTC)

Reviews

  • Review from Walton:
    • I've seen you around a few times at RfA. If you ever wanted to run for adminship yourself, you're experienced enough to pass RfA, tho' I'd advise another few months of sustained activity after your wikibreak.
    • Your mainspace contribs are good and you're clearly a serious article-writer. If you want to run for RfA I'd advise bumping up your projectspace count, e.g. by more participation in XfDs.
    • I can't see any recent civility problems either. All in all, if you want to run for RfA around late August-early September, I would be happy to nominate you. WaltonOne 18:13, 11 July 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for your comments, Walton. I'd not considered running for adminship, as I hold candidates to high standards which I have yet to meet, but I'll certainly give the idea some thought if all goes well over the next few months. Thanks! Espresso Addict 19:18, 11 July 2007 (UTC)

Questions

  1. Of your contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
    I've created around fifty articles; bovine papillomavirus is probably the most complete, and I'm also pleased that Chester Shot Tower made it to Do You Know?. I'm also pleased with the improvements to Peak District last year, which were made in collaboration with several other editors and involved extensive discussion and consensus building on the talk page.
  2. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
    I felt a lot of stress late last year. There were various contributing factors:
    • a lack of openness to fresh contributions regarding the notability of academics and peers;
    • frustration with AfD after AfD of scientists of clear, if minor, notability, while 'crufty' articles on fictional characters accumulated unchecked;
    • a sense of drowning in linkspam on geographical articles;
    • frustration with popular medical articles eg wart accumulating oceans of trivial content.
    These concerns led me to take a wikibreak from the end of November last year until recently. I'd particularly value advice as to how to manage such stress in future, without having to take such an extended time away.
