Dayn (talk ยท contribs) Hello, I'm Dane. I'm asking to be reviewed, because I'm questioning my own actions, and whether I am going about things the correct way. Currently, I've taken it upon myself to purge and cleanse many lists of bands pertaining to a genre. I remove red linked bands because if they were notable, they would have a page. If not, a person can create the page. Otherwise, I don't let any red link through onto these lists, because if we did, it would be paramount to pure self-promotion, like many lists pre-me have had. I'm just wondering whether my actions are in the right place, and if I'm handling things correctly. Dane ~nya 01:57, 8 February 2007 (UTC)
Reviews
I reviewed some of your talk page comments and contribution history. Here's what I found:
- I'm not really understanding why you feel so nervous about the work you're doing. Some of the discussions on Opeth were a little stressful for you, but that's likely to happen in any prolonged content dispute. I was pleased to see that you kept your cool and didn't come within a furlong of attacking other participants.
- I see that you're very protective of the articles you've worked on, reverting edits that contradict what you know as fact. Nothing wrong with that; it's just an observation.
- I'm entirely on board with you deleting articles about nonnotable bands. We have too many of those already, and more coming in every day. The method of deleting redlinks from lists has precedent in other lists and is entirely reasonable. I participate frequently at WP:AFD, where WP:BAND and WP:MUSIC are featured multiple times every day.
I wish you good luck. YechielMan 17:16, 20 February 2007 (UTC)

Questions
- Of your contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
- Hmm, what am I pleased about... at the moment, as I've put in my statement, it's cleaning up a large amount of band lists, keeping them free from self-promotion, and full of actual useful links that have an article on Wikipedia to link to. I've been involved in that mostly, but I also take great pride in my abilities as a proof reader, something which I haven't been doing as much lately. That's about all.
- Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
- Many times. I'm an extremely patient person, I'd wait until the sun melts the Earth if I had to. However, there have been a few users that have particularly frustrated me. I'm critical of myself, and I may have perhaps been a bit hasty in some actions. Others though, I've tried for nearly a month against an unresponsive user trying to establish consensus, to little avail. Particulary the Opeth page, and another involving my above said contributions to lists, about a myspace link to a band that has been happening for two months. I responded to this user to create the page iff it passes WP:MUSIC. It didn't pass, so it got deleted. I felt I was doing my best given the circumstances to advise the user. Other times when there was an apparently conflict, it was an honest mistake, and apologies have ensued. Apart from that, I'm extremely polite (though always use casual swearing) and I try to handle things patiently. Sometimes my wit gets the better of me, and I can't resist making a joke only myself (and maybe two others) will get, in periods of general calm talk, or dealing with a disruptive user. That's about it.

- Edit: I should add, I took a vow around 3-4 months ago, to never let my opinion be ignored. This occurred after a particularly... let's leave out adjectives, university happestance. From there, I was never going to back down if I thought I was right; I was going to let my opinion be heard, and discuss. Sometimes it's hard to discuss if people do not discuss though. This sometimes causes me stress everywhere, which it would on Wikipedia, and discussion is how I would try handle these things, and then ask other users what they thought, attempting to establish consensus. One of my problems now is getting irate because of people not standing up if they have something to say, and I hope my patience and politeness will avoid troubles if I'm the only one standing.
