Dar-Ape (talk · contribs) As of now, I have been an active editor for about six months and a contributor for more than a year and a half. I am considering running for adminship in the not-too-distant future, and would like some feedback on where I can improve, and if/when I might have a shot at a successful RfA. I have more than 3,000 edits and some experience with most all aspects of Wikipedia. I had an editor review a little while ago, and I believe I have implemented the suggestions I was given. As an administrator, I would focus primarily on WP:AIV as I have a great deal of experience in dealing with vandalism. I suspect that my adminship, though, somewhat like my work on Wikipedia, may be long tail, including helping out with "easy calls" at WP:RPP, WP:CSD, and WP:XFD, as I have experience in all of these areas. (I say this because my experience is not extensive in the areas, but there should really be no reason to wait for things like {{db-self}} and overdue unanimous XFD discussions. Additionally, I would enjoy having the tools to help out with my own personal vandal fighting and fixes (like here). Even if not related to adminship, please offer me any suggestions you might have! Reviews

  • Hi, Dar-Ape. You're an excellent vandal-fighter, and I can definitely see use of the mop in you. Proportionally, your edits are great, very balanced. I couldn't see it at first because the edit tool was counting edits for the nonexistant "Dar-Ape_2." As I suggest for all aspiring admins, I recommend regularly visiting WP:RFA. Many experienced admins go here and impart their knowledge, so it is an excellent place to learn. As a bonus, you can study and prepare answers for the questions that are all so crucial to an RFA. Besides this, I can't find much to critisize. Keep up the good work, and you'll be successful. bibliomaniac15 05:45, 7 December 2006 (UTC)
  • My Review very good phenomenal job so far, your work is greatly appreciated, and I would be 100% willing to nominate you are Strong Support you in a Future RFA. Cheers and happy editing. — Seadog 05:23, 10 December 2006 (UTC)
  • Lethaniol's Review as you have had a review before I thought you might find it helpful if I focused on the constructive criticism there and see how things have improved. Also for info using Mathbot's tool [1] you have 100% use of edit summary in last 150 major and mino edits - well done, keep it up.
  1. Previously had had a low count of talk page edits - now out of 3566, have User Talk of 725 and Article Talk of 412. This seems quite healthy and balanced, and suggests to me that if you spend a lot of time vandal fighting that you have been informing before on talk pages as well as reverting. I strongly believe in WP:BITE and informing people on their user pages of their mistakes helps this.
  1. Much better at using edit summary in full, no abbreviations. Welldone
  1. I will stop now - you have recently had an RfA and pulled out early - so I sure you got plenty of info from that. If you want any further comments, write to me on my talk page Lethaniol 23:42, 19 December 2006 (UTC)

Questions

  1. Of your contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
I am particularly pleased with my vandal fighting and my creations like Treasure Island (1934 film), Outrage! (game), and Portal: Classical music. As mentioned before, though, my contributions are somewhat long tail, so in some sense I am proud of the variety of my contributions.
  2. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
I have had disagreements with several users, but I am proud of the way I handled myself in all of them, and all were resolved peacefully. I will list a couple here as I think they are characteristic of the way I handle myself when disagreement arises.
  • Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Ophelia Benson: After I voted to delete along with several other editors, User:VivianDarkbloom posted a very long and bad faith message both on the AfD and the talk pages of me and other users who had voted to delete. This caused even more tension at the Afd, so I tried to calm things down, attempting to focus people in a positive direction regarding the AfD itself and regarding a mass post to the talk pages of all users involved. More diffs and testimonials can be found at the Administrator’s noticeboard. (Scroll down to “Hysteria regarding an Article for Deletion”.)
