Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:ShareCribPatricksStreet.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 17:47, 29 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:PBC-Cork-Crest.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:PBC-Cork-Crest.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. [edit] Username

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia!

I hope not to seem unfriendly or make you feel unwelcome, but I noticed your username, and I am concerned that it might not meet Wikipedia's username policy for the following reason: Your username and goals my constitute a conflict of interest for the articles that you edit. After you look over that policy, could we discuss that concern here?

I'd appreciate learning your own views, for instance your reasons for wanting this particular name, and what alternative username you might accept that avoids raising this concern.

You have several options freely available to you:

Thank you. Dreamafter 00:37, 4 January 2008 (UTC)

I would add something else. The "terms of reference" that are described in this accounts UserPage suggest that it might be a "public account" that is representing some kind of special interest group or similar. The former (if true or confirmed) is inappropriate (see: WP:BLOCK), the latter is probably OK so long as WP:COI and WP:UNDUE are not infringed. Guliolopez (talk) 12:09, 4 January 2008 (UTC)

Ah, I wondering when I would get a Wikimedia welcome. And thank you for bringing up your concerns so cordially. :-)

Yes, I am familiar with those policies (and Wikipedia's other policies, for that matter). You may have mistaken Podium for being a commercial magzine, although firstly I would be happy to relieve those concerns. Podium is the annual newsletter of PBC school debating society. It is not even an entirely serious magazine at that (having a tradition of mostly satirical articles), though it does have some relevant articles. It's not really distributed outside the debating society itself (although we keep a copy of each edition on archive), so I think we all agree it would be rather misplaced to try promoting it on Wikipedia. ;-)

As stated on my userpage, my primary aim is to add source citations to articles - something which is needed on Wikipedia, and without which otherwise-reliable articles lack trustworthiness. My choice of username is so that I can be easily identified as someone who can assist with verifying sources for certain articles. For this account, I am limiting myself to Cork articles, partly with it being my declared area of interest and expertise, but also in the legitimate interests of segregation and security. Further, by limiting this account's editing to 2008, the Editor of Podium for the current year can always be quickly identified. I cannot think of another way that the username would be as readily recognisable and helpful to other editors.

I would also like to assuage Gulliopez's concerns about this being a "group account". Heavens, that sort of thing would be completely out! I'm not sure exactly what you mean by "terms of reference", but I understand my userpage may have been a bit confusing in that regard. I stated on my userpage, however, that I would only act in a manner consistent with Wikipedia policies. My threefold aims are summed up in WP:MoS and WP:NPOV, WP:V, and WP:Images! I hope this is already evident from my contributions thus far. :-) --Editor of Podium 2008 (talk) 13:38, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
