Edgar Basel (born 1934-04-06 in Mannheim) is a former boxer from Germany, who won the silver medal in the flyweight division (– 51 kg) at the 1952 Summer Olympics in Helsinki.

Basel had an outstanding amateur career. He was a five time German amateur flyweight champion (1951-1952, 1954-1956), and in 1955 he won the European Championship in Berlin (West).

    • Defeated Henryk Kukier (Poland) PTS (3-0)
    • Defeated Thorbjoern Clausen (Norway) KO-3
    • Defeated Anatoli Bulakov (Soviet Union) PTS (2-1)
    • Lost to Nathan Eugene Brooks (USA) PTS (0-3)
  • 1956 competed as a Flyweight at the Melbourne Olympics. Result was:
    • Lost to Vladimir Stolnikov (Soviet Union) PTS
