Ed Byrne (b. December 30, 1941, in Philadelphia, PA), a trombonist, Ed is a veteran world-class jazz artist. During his sixteen years on the New York City music scene, Ed also performed and composed/arranged numerous recordings. He has (and continues to) toured the Americas, France, Germany,Greece, and Sweden.

A Doctor of Musical Arts in Jazz Studies from the New England Conservatory, Ed is the recipient of many honors:he was nominated Best Trombone Soloist by Latin New York magazine; his composition Fenway Funk was nominated for a Grammy Award; and Eddie Palmieri's album, Unfinished Masterpiece, on which Ed played lead trombone, won a Grammy Award. Ed's CD, Two Shades of Blue, is currently being sold by North Country Distributors.

Dr. Byrne, who has been on the faculties of Berklee College, Baruch College, University of the Arts, Greenfield Community College, and the University of Rhode Island, has written 43 texts on jazz improvisation, Linear Improvisation Method, and co-wrote The Jazz Guitar Manual.
