Edward A. Ridpath (born 1960) was the 2006 Democratic Nominee for the North Carolina House of Representatives from District 37. Despite a successful grassroots campaign initiative, he was defeated by 3-term Republican incumbent Paul Stam in the November 2006 election. Stam won 15,459 votes to Ridpath's 11,628.

Ed Ridpath has lived in the Carolinas for over twenty years since he was stationed with the U.S. Navy in Charleston, SC in 1985. He was honorably discharged as an E-6 Petty Officer First Class in Charleston, SC after eight years of service.

After being discharged from the Navy, he did government contract work supporting the U.S. Department of Energy at the Savannah River Site in Aiken, SC.

He received a Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems five years later from the University of the State of New York, after ten years of part-time coursework.

Since 1999, he has lived and worked from his home in Fuquay-Varina for IBM.

Ed and Jeanne, his wife of twenty-five years, have two children; Veronica and Ryan.

In 2007, Ridpath announced he would run again for the North Carolina House of Representatives in 2008.[1]
