Edward Jun Minton (born September 10 1986) is one of the vocalists and guitarists of the British band, Elliot Minor.
He was born in Tokyo and has two sisters, Emily (20 months older) and Clare (18 months younger). He lived in Japan until he was eight, at which point he moved to the UK to study at St John's College School in Cambridge, where he was a chorister (and ultimately Head Chorister) in the Choir of St John's College, Cambridge.
At the age of 13, Ed met Alex Davies (his fellow vocalist and guitarist) at Uppingham School, where they were in the same house and in the same year, and together they devoted much of their time to music-making, taking part not only in the school's musical activities as music scholars but also performing as an acoustic duo.
The Academy & Elliot Minor
Ed attended Uppingham school with vocalist Alex. After leaving Uppingham School in 2005, both Ed and Alex took a gap year from their studies and focused on writing and recording their own songs. After Alex's chance meeting at York Minster School with childhood friend, Dan Hetherton, the duo became a trio and then a quartet (along with bassist Mike) called The Academy. After being spotted by a scout from Repossession Records, the band changed its name to Elliot Minor, with Ed and Alex taking up the positions of lead vocalists and guitarists, Dan taking on drums and backing vocals, Ed Hetherton (Dan's older brother) becoming the bassist to replace Mike, and Ali Paul (another childhood friend of Alex's) playing keyboard. Elliot Minor's next single to be released is "Time After Time".
