Edward James Jurak (born October 24, 1957 Los Angeles, California - ) was a utility player with a 6 year career from 1982-1985, 1988-1989. He played for the Boston Red Sox and Oakland A's both of the American League and the San Francisco Giants of the National League. He played first base, second base, shortstop, third base, outfield and designated hitter. He played primarily as a shortstop/third baseman.
In 1981, he won the Eastern League batting title with the Bristol (CT) Red Sox (AA affiliate). At the end of the season, his average was .340. However, because he was out for a month with a broken jaw, and he did not meet the minimum at-bats for the title, the league factored in the number of at bats needed as strikeouts and he still won the batting title. The Bristol Red Sox also won the Eastern League Championship that year.
