[edit] Introduction to 'Economicdevelopment'
David E. Kalinchuk is the Economic Development Manager for the Municipal District of Rocky View, in sunny southern Alberta. Kalinchuk started his economic development career in his home town of Virden, Manitoba, Canada. He received his formal education in Economic Development from the University of Waterloo (2000) and the University of Oklahoma (2005).

[edit] In the beginning...
After receiving a Bachelor of Education from Brandon University, Kalinchuk served on the Province of Manitoba's Economic Innovation and Technology Council, an appointment by Jim Downey, then Deputy Premier of Manitoba. During this time, Kalinchuk also served on the Province of Manitoba's Rural Advisiory Committee under Rural Development Minister, Len Derkach.
In 1999, Kalinchuk moved to Prince Rupert, British Columbia. Kalinchuk served as Economic Development Manager for the Prince Rupert Economic Development Commission. At the request of B.C.'s Northern Development Commission, under the direction of Commissioner John Backhouse, Kalinchuk served on British Columbia's Offshore Oil and Gas Task Force.
[edit] CIDA and the Eastern European Professional Partnership Program
Since 1997, Kalinchuk has led numerous professional lecture tours to Poland and Ukraine. Universities and government agencies received lectures and academic discussions on topics such as "Canadian Perspective on the European Union" to "Trans-Atlantic Relations", "Foreign Direct Investment", and "The Role of Local Economic Development". These lecture initiatives were delivered with support from the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA).

The Municipal District of Rocky View surrounds the City of Calgary (to the east, west and north) and is the fifth largest tax base in Alberta:
