"This economy, finance or stock index-related. "Stock index" is finance. This has to be the most stupid thing I've seen.--Jerryseinfeld 20:39, 29 Dec 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Pyat rublei 1997.jpg
Image:Pyat rublei 1997.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

- PLEASE NOTE that BetacommandBot has left this message on the talk pages of ALL economics and finance stubs tagged with this template. The image Pyat rublei 1997.jpg is used in this template, and it is a public domain image. Public domain images do not require a fair use rationale. --Busy Stubber 00:18, 7 July 2007 (UTC)

- Some currency images are copyrighted and some are not. Pyat rublei 1997.jpg is not currently a copyrighted image, but it can easily be grouped with copyrighted images, which can set off BetacommandBot to put copyright warnings on all pages using this image. Also, copyright laws can change at any time.

- I've created a very rough and vague image of two coins for general use at [TwoCoins.svg]. I've done my best to note that this image is non-specific and free for public use. I'm modifying this stub tag to use this rough generic coin image because copyright laws and the interpretation of these laws are unpredictable, and BetacommandBot's copyright messages on economics and finance stub-tagged pages are extremely confusing and generally unhelpful in developing this encyclopedia. I do not mean to blame BetacommandBot (simply a set of computer instructions) for this difficulty. BetacommandBot follows strict orders. I've done my best to indicate that TwoCoins.svg is a generic, public-domain image, and should remain so.--Busy Stubber 03:30, 7 July 2007 (UTC)

- There should hopefully be no further problems with Pyat rublei 1997.jpg, as it has now been removed from all fair use categories. It can be reinstated to the template, even though the 'rough images' are remarkably realistic. Editors should ignore the mass deletion messages which were left by the bot, and they can be removed if editors are so inclined. I don't think it's necessary to advertise this fact in the template. -- zzuuzz (talk) 12:31, 8 July 2007 (UTC)

- Zzuuzz, Very sorry to have totally messed things up by putting that message on the econ and finance stub template. I thought it would be the most direct way to get a message out to the editors looking at the econ and finance stub articles. My misguided but well-intended attempt to minimize confusion. The message isn't showing up anymore when the tag prints its message on the articles, but it's still showing up on the template. I'm hesitant to try to take it off. My template editing batting average is rock bottom right now. Would you be kind enough to remove the message from the stub template? As far as what image to use on the template, I'm on a dial-up connection, so I prefer small file size images if they do the job. But if anyone prefers actual coin images, that's fine with me. Many thanks for your help and sorry again for causing so much trouble. --Busy Stubber 01:31, 9 July 2007 (UTC)
