Talk:Economy (disambiguation)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
So: are you going to fix the 40-odd pages that link to here to "economy" in the economic sense? Tannin 02:42 Jan 27, 2003 (UTC)
- Let us have this article redirect to Economics, and disambiguate by moving the religious part to an article titled something like Economy (religion). olivier 02:48 Jan 27, 2003 (UTC)

- I agree about restoring the redirect here, but if all there is to say about the religious sense of the word is this dictionary-like entry, then it shouldn't really be an article at all. --Camembert
There's a lot more to be said about Economy in the religious sense. I'll try to flesh it out a bit, but it will take a little research. Wesley 22:31 Mar 3, 2003 (UTC)
[edit] MoS Cleanup
A dab page is not a list of topics with the page title in their title.. See Wikipedia:Manual of Style (disambiguation pages). Following are the entries I removed:
- Economy is financial soundness or affordability.
- Hydrogen economy
- Judicial economy
- New Economy
- Political economy
- Plutonium economy

[edit] Economy should be its own article
Economy is an important word with many meanings that can and should be described here. Look it up in any comprehensive dictionary. Indeed this article is necessary to make sense of the words 'economic' or 'economic system'.
The article should contain the following sections: there should be a discussion about the archaic meaning of the word which is still has some relevance in current usage.
Then there should be discussion about the two generally accepted ways of using the word. Yes, the most prominent form treats the notion of economy as an 'economic system,' but many people (especially scholars in anthropology) treat the word economy as a form of organization (e.g., like a household). The entry should briefly introduce these debates.
Unless someone provides a good objection to this, I will start a new article that we can work on.

- At Economy (word) or something?--Commander Keane 04:00, 26 April 2006 (UTC)
That maybe the answer Commander Keane. What are the standards for the difference between a definition and an encyclopedia definition? No definition would include the kind of elaborate (although succinct) discussion, I'm proposing here. The word 'economy' is like the word society, which has an entry.
