Ecosse Films
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Ecosse Films is a British film and television production company, based in London despite the Scottish name ("Ecosse" is French for Scotland), Scottish saltire in the company logo and Scottish content in several of their productions.
The company produces material for television and cinema, although many of their film productions so far have been commissioned by British television companies such as the BBC and Channel 4 and Five.
Their first production was the film Mrs. Brown, starring Dame Judi Dench as Queen Victoria and Billy Connolly as her servant John Brown. Their most successful television production to date has been Monarch of the Glen, produced for BBC Scotland and screened on BBC One, which ran to seven series and chronicled events on a Scottish estate. They have also produced Kitchen, a two part drama serial for Five, starring Eddie Izzard, and Channel 4 show Cape Wrath (known as Meadowlands in the United States).
