[edit] Toby Thompson book publishing info

For some reason, references to Toby Thompson's book give many different publishing data, to an extent I find amazing. I don't know what the deal is. I put what I deduced to be the the most likely correct info for the main initial US and UK printings on the article page. Here are other data from Alibris and other web sites:

  • amazon.com gives publisher as a garbled string that might be Warner Books and/or Little, Brown, and ISBN 0446663549
  • New York, 1972, Warner Paperback Library
  • New York, 1971, Coward McCann & Geoghegan (as opposed to Coward-McCann)
  • 1971, Putnam
  • 1972, Warner/Bantam
  • London, 1971, New English Library ISBN 069810305X
  • London, 1972, New English Library
  • New York, 1972, Paperback Library
  • 1972, Nelson Doubleday
  • 1972, NEL (reference to Nelson Doubleday?)

Toby Thompson writes: "New York, 1971, Coward-McCann, Inc. (hardback), and New York, 1972, Warner Paperback Library are the correct publishing data for "Positively Main Street." The New English Library edition (paperback) appeared in 1972. Parts of "Positively Main Street," the book, appeared in The Village Voice during the spring of 1969, and in Us Quarterly (Bantam Books) in the fall of 1969."
