Eching is a municipality in the district of Freising, in Upper Bavaria, Germany.

It is located 18 km north of Munich (centre) and 15 km southwest of Freising.

The municipality Eching exists since 1978 and is formed by Eching, Günzenhausen, Ottenburg, Deutenhausen, Dietersheim and Gut Hollern. Hollern (western of the federal road B 13) belongs since 1990 to Unterschleißheim.

The first documentary mentioned of „Ehingas“ was in 773 in a deed of donation of the Freising Bishop. Eching belongs for centuries to the closed yard march Ottenburg. Eching got during an administrative reform in Bavaria in 1818 his autonomy as municipality. With the building of the autobahn from 1936 till 1938 start a change from an agricultural structure to a more industrial one. Since the administrative reform of 1978 Günzenhausen, Ottenburg and Deutenhausen belongs to the municipality Eching. The constitution of the business park Eching, which was founded together with the neighbor municipality Neufahrn bei Freising, and the link to the Munich International Airport via the suburban railway lead to the fact, that Eching is now a modern suburban municipality.

The Coat of Arms of Eching shows the Freising blackamoor and a from heath blossoms flanked St. Andrew's Cross. The Coat of Arms bears Eching since 1967.

[edit] Culture and sights
The Community Center Eching is an important venue in Eching with an artistic scene, exhibitions and a restaurant.
Southern of Eching is the recreation area „Echinger See“ (English: Eching Lake) located. The bathing season takes from May 15 till September 15 each year. The recreation area enfolded 33 hectare, thereof 12.6 hectare surface of the water. The Lake arose in the 1960s as quarry pond via extraction of gravel. Between Eching and Hollern are several gravel lakes for bathing, which are planned to be extended to a recreation area close to a town.
At the area of the municipality you can find several nature reserves: The Garchinger Heide, since 1951 die Echinger Lohe and since 1995 Mallertshofer Holz mit Heiden.
