[edit] Syriana

Why do you think Barnes survived a missile attack that landed a foot away from him? Take a look at the crater after the missile attack; Nobody near Barnes survived. —Viriditas | Talk 02:53, 22 September 2007 (UTC)

No worries. BTW, Om Shanti Om looks like fun. Have you seen it yet? —Viriditas | Talk 23:35, 15 November 2007 (UTC)
I really want to see Om Shanti Om, but it's not playing anywhere in Hawaii. Image:Sad.png There is a large Indian community on Kauai, so I wonder if it might be showing in a smaller setting. —Viriditas | Talk 03:33, 19 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Adoption

If you are serious about learning, then add this code to your talk page: {{adoptme}}. An experienced editor will take you under their wing and show you the ropes. You can also check out WP:ADOPT to see how it works, or contact any of editors who are open to adopting on this page. I'll always be around if you want to ask me a question on my talk page. —Viriditas | Talk 16:19, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

If you want to use it, you have to remove the "tl"; place it here or on your user page. —Viriditas | Talk 16:25, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image

I just want to remind you that non-free images aren't allowed in user space. That means you will have to remove Image:Om shanti om film with multiple cameo stars.jpg from any non-article page, like User:Eatpepsi. —Viriditas | Talk 16:24, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

Good question. No, it won't make any difference as the image is copyrighted, no matter which license you give it. A non-free image would be like Image:Soccer ball.jpg, which is ok as it was captured and released by the original photographer under a Creative Commons Attribution 2.0 License, making it acceptable for use on any Wikipedia page. —Viriditas | Talk 16:29, 16 November 2007 (UTC)
The license you use depends on what the image is and what you want to do with it. The easiest way to determine this in the beginning is to follow the directions here. Things can get a bit complicated after you upload it, but don't worry, that's how you learn. I have to go now, but leave me any questions you might have and I'll get back to you later today. Happy editing. —Viriditas | Talk 16:37, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Srk aplogize on tv.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Srk aplogize on tv.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. -- STBotI (talk) 20:43, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Copyright violation

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions to the Om Shanti Om (film) article, but for legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted.

You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must include on the external site the statement "I, (name), am the author of this article, (article name), and I release its content under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License, Version 1.2 and later."

You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here. You can also leave a message on my talk page. ---- Yamla (talk) 21:03, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

No, really. You must stop copying and pasting the material from indiainfo.com and just making minor changes. In order to avoid a copyright violation, you must rewrite the whole thing in your own words. You cannot use someone else's content as you are doing. ---- Yamla (talk) 21:41, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Rationales

Rationales must be specific to a single article and, for film or t.v. screenshots, must explain how the image is being used to provide critical commentary. You can't just copy a fair-use rationale from another image and use it. See WP:FURG. ---- Yamla (talk) 21:45, 16 November 2007 (UTC) Note that saying, "The image is significant in identifying the subject of the article, which is the film or film character itself" when the image is a t.v. screenshot is a dead giveaway. ---- Yamla (talk) 21:46, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Blocked

You are continuing to violate copyright on Om Shanti Om (film) after multiple warnings. You were told the text you were adding was inappropriate and yet you continued to do so. You have now been blocked to give you a chance to read and understand WP:COPYRIGHT and WP:FURG. Please note that your actions are placing Wikipedia in legal jeopardy; copyright violations are treated very seriously here. ---- Yamla (talk) 21:51, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] but sir i redid the article in my own words !

i wrote the article again in my own words ? -- eatpepsi @ Wiki Project ! (talk) 21:54, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

You most certainly did not. See Plagiarism. As you were told multiple times, you were using the same sentence structure and most of the same words. It is not sufficient to change the occasional word. The whole thing must be rewritten. You said, for example, "the sequence in which he was shown being thrashed by policemen outside a theatre". The source says, "the sequence in which he has been shown being thrashed by policemen outside a theatre." That's not you writing it in your own words, that's you copying someone else's words. ---- Yamla (talk) 21:58, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] ok sir iam sorry and i will redo it again

i am really new here and have no idea what i did wrong , now i know ... i will fix it and then post it .

and sir what about the image rationales ? how should i go about writing them , can u please site and example for me ... i need to know so that the movie and tv screenshot arent wrongly mentioned .

thanks

[edit] WikiProjects

It occurs to me that the problems you are having can be solved by getting involved with a wikiproject like Wikipedia:WikiProject Films and Wikipedia:WikiProject Films/Indian cinema task force. If you follow the instructions for joining Wikipedia:WikiProject_Films/Participants and Wikipedia:WikiProject India/Members you can use the project talk pages to appeal for help. Make sure you explain that you are a new user. —Viriditas | Talk 04:09, 17 November 2007 (UTC)

I see that you were blocked by an administrator. I'm sorry about that, but when you are asked to stop doing something, it's best to stop and figure out what you are doing wrong before repeating your mistake. Don't take it personally. —Viriditas | Talk 10:54, 17 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Adoption

Hi, I see that you are interested in being adopted. I'm LAX and I have been editing Wikipedia for about 5 months with over 5,000 contributions. I mainly edit Professional wrestling articles, and revert vandalism. If you are interested in me adopting you then get back to me anytime. Cheers! -- LAX 02:35, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

No problem. If at any time you need help, feel free to ask me. As for the way "Adoption" works, see WP:ADOPT. -- LAX 04:40, 21 November 2007 (UTC)
