I originally tagged this for A1, but then the speedy tag was removed by a respected editor, so i added a PROD tag. But after talking with that user they decided it did meet A1, not gonna re-tag for obvious reasons (per my 1RR rule), but am going to ask that you delete it as A1. Wikipedia:Suspected sock puppets/2008x12
Here's the story ... the three accounts in question were blanking material that used a newspaper-operated blog as a source. Such blogs are permitted as sources under WP:RS#News organizations. Therefore, as I saw it, there was no BLP violation there, and I considered it a case of blanking of cited material. The reasoning behind filing a sock case was that you had two users go right to that page as their only edit and blank the material. Blueboy96 10:10, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
- I guess I wouldn't have been inclined to jump on it if it didn't appear to be affiliated with a newspaper ... but I do agree with you on finding better sources--earlier in the day, I was able to track down actual links to White House press releases. Hopefully that helps ... and is there any way I can prove that I know what vandalism looks like? Blueboy96 20:31, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
- Well, since you asked (sorta) ... here are some recent diffs from reverts I did:
Also have a look at Wikipedia:Suspected sock puppets/Borseter, where I caught a linkspammer using several sock accounts to insert spamlinks into articles. Hope this helps ... Blueboy96 20:43, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

Picture deletion
Hey there...Im absolutely confused with how to upload images on here. I uploaded a picture of the former Westboro theatre but I find all the steps very confusing. I would also like to upload pictures of the former Aladdin Drive-In site and other Ottawa Theatre pictures that are my own work. my pic was deleted and I was wondering how I upload images simply.

Hey there, it appears that you protected this page back in December 2007. I don't know why it is still protected really. Quite frankly, I don't know why I'm not able to edit it myself, being a registered user here. Anyhow, I would simply like to edit on it here and there, and I notice it is quickly turning into a fan page instead of an objective encyclopedic entry. New York City Meetup
|
In the afternoon, we will hold a session dedicated to meta:Wikimedia New York City activities, and have salon-style group discussions on Wikipedia and the other Wikimedia projects (see the last meeting's minutes).
Well also make preparations for our exciting Wikipedia Takes Manhattan event, a free content photography contest for Columbia University students planned for Friday March 28 (about 2 weeks after our meeting).
In the evening, we'll share dinner and chat at a local restaurant, and (weather permitting) hold a late-night astronomy event at Columbia's telescopes.
You can add or remove your name from the New York City Meetups invite list at Wikipedia:Meetup/NYC/Invite list.
You're also invited to subscribe to the public Wikimedia New York City mailing list, which is a great way to receive timely updates.
This has been an automated delivery because you were on the invite list. BrownBot (talk) 02:44, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

flag Nicaragua template
Instead of showing the flag and the country name, Template:flag for "Nicaragua" only shows the image name and the country name. This appears to be fine for most other countries.
All of these templates appear to be protected against editing by mortals such as myself. I noticed that you amended the protection for Template:NIC, so you probably have the authority to fix this. –BozoTheScary (talk) 19:17, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

Re: ImageTaggingBot
There was a recent change in how MediaWiki handles non-existant pages in logs that prevents ImageTaggingBot from correctly identifying an image's uploader if that person doesn't have a userpage. The fix requires a complete re-write of the bot to use api.php rather than screen-scraping, and I haven't had time to do it. --Carnildo (talk) 21:30, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
- There's an easy fix, but I'd be chasing a moving target. Looking at the bot's logs, I'd have had to have changed the bot's code at least twice in the past week, and each time it went wrong, it would have left 50-100 invalid talkpages before I could catch the failure. --Carnildo (talk) 05:04, 5 March 2008 (UTC)

Deleted fair-use image
I see that you have deleted Image:Catalin Predoiu-1.JPG stating "CSD I7: Replaceable fair use and the uploader was notified more than 48 hours ago)". If it is replaceable, what image has it been replaced with ? The Goverment site also uses the same image (but with a poor quality). I would not say the image is replaceable, unless we will find another image. It is possible that in the future more images will appear, but they probably will also be copyrighted. Moreover, I (the uploader) was not notified at all about the deletion. The only notification was in that page, which said something like "if the image is found to be replaceable within 48 hours, it will be deleted". But how and when was it found to be replaceable ? Razvan Socol (talk) 06:37, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
- I seriously question the possibility of creating a similar free image. I mean, he is the Justice Minister, can someone just go to him and say "Please, wait a second, I want to take a picture of you for Wikipedia" ? I doubt it; only accredited press will be allowed to attend the press conferences and they will produce copyrighted images. I'm not saying it's impossible to create a free image, but it's unlikely. Razvan Socol (talk) 07:08, 5 March 2008 (UTC)

- I found other two non-free images of him, here and here, but both are copyrighted (and have a poor quality, anyway), so I doubt that we will find a free image of him. Razvan Socol (talk) 07:36, 5 March 2008 (UTC)

Following the initial upload, I tried to upload the same photo with a higher resolution, which resulted in a warning. It was due to this warning that I first learnt of the deletion. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Barry Kay Archive (talk • contribs) 12:47, 5 March 2008 (UTC)

Your removal of the Twinkle access for Levine2112
You are right that Twinkle should not be used for edit warring. You are also right to block Quackguru and Levine2112. However, I think it is an overreaction to remove Levine2112s Twinkle access [6]. Levine2112 does use Twinkle a lot for productive purposes such as greeting newcomers and removing blatant vandalism. Let this access removal be a warning and restore it after a few days. MaxPont (talk) 08:57, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
- Actually, Levine2112 used Twinkle to vandalize an article twice in a row and I reverted him.[7][8] QuackGuru (talk) 20:36, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
- Is it a WP:COI when chiropractors engage in wikilawyering the talk page and POVing the main chiropractic article? I want the article to be a neutral presentation according to the WP:RS references.[9] Wikipedia does not enforce NPOV at this time. How can I achieve the NPOV standard when some editors do not want that to ever happen. Read the current protected version starting with the sentence: Spinal manipulation has generally regarded is a safe and effective procedure for the treatment of various mechanical low back pain syndromes. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chiropractic#_ref-Hurwitz_0 The text is not verified by the references. After reading the sentence, read the references. There is a clear NPOV policy violation. According to WP:NPOV: Neutral point of view is a fundamental Wikipedia principle. NPOV is absolute and non-negotiable. It seems some editors are intent on POVing the article. How can the never ending NPOV problems be resolved? QuackGuru (talk) 22:18, 6 March 2008 (UTC)

- The Quackwatch article is under probation[14] and I'clast has edited the article when it is still under probation.[15][16][17]
- These three comments at I'clast's talk page are highly disruptive and should be dealt with in a proper manner.[18][19][20] I have given plenty of evidence the probation has failed and I am unfairly being attacked. QuackGuru (talk) 23:35, 6 March 2008 (UTC)

Sammo Hung image
Hello, Just a couple of quick points / q's regarding Image:SammoHung EasternCondors screenshot.jpg, which was deleted by East718 on 03 March 2008, and removed from the Sammo Hung article by ImageRemovalBot on the same day...
When I now go to Image:SammoHung EasternCondors screenshot.jpg, it states: 02:54, 3 March 2008 East718 (Talk | contribs) deleted "Image:SammoHung EasternCondors screenshot.jpg" (CSD I7: Replaceable fair use and the uploader was notified more than 48 hours ago).
1) I'm sure I was the uploader of the image, but I definitely did not receive any notification that the image would be deleted, either on my talk page, or on the talk page of the article on which the image appeared. This obviously gives me zero chance to amend the article / image usage rationale before it's deleted. I'm not sure if the image page was in my watchlist, so I don't know whether or not you posted any sort of notification of impending deletion there either.
2) I understand possible reasons for the deletion of the image. However, it was tagged as a screenshot and had at least some sort of rationale. Should the image not have been tagged with a "di-disputed rationale" tag first? It could be argued that the image pertained more to the film it was from than to the actor depicted in the image. If the image had been disputed for this reason it could have been reallocated to a more appopriate location.
3) Finally, just a general moan: Even if I had recieved notice that the image was about to be deleted, who decided that 48 hours was a sufficient period of notice before deletion, anyway? I've been a member here for 2.5 years and made almost 8000 edits over that time. But that doesn't mean I have the opportunity to visit the site every 48 hours. I know you probably can't help with this, but it's a pain. Surely 7 days notice would be acceptable for non-offensive images...
Ah well, I appreciate any responses you can provide. Gram123 (talk) 15:28, 6 March 2008 (UTC)

Sophisticated vandal
Hey how's it going EAst. There's a guy who's been creating all these biased articles on some obscure kickboxers, all of them relate to the guy named, Sherman Bergman. On Bergman's article, he lists tons of references, all impossible to check, which is probably what keeps it from deletion. There used to be a fighter named Sherman Bergman who was supposedly knocked out by Jean Claude van Damme back in 1976, if you google his name, pretty much all you can find is what is been created here on wikipedia by this guy. [21], [22]
I believe its the same guy with different user names like Special:Contributions/DavidToma, Special:Contributions/Royalfleming, Special:Contributions/Eugenejerome, Special:Contributions/TimBaker1941, Special:Contributions/PainlessPeterPotter, Special:Contributions/LeifSchumeucker, Special:Contributions/BusRiley1965, Special:Contributions/CliffHarper, Special:Contributions/RenoDavis1967, Special:Contributions/Lennybaker, and probably more
List of articles he's created: Hank Bergman, Walter (Von) McGee, Morsak Muangsu, Alejandro DasCola, Gilberto (Gil) Diaz, Carlos Andino, Christopher Allen, Wilver (Rio) Johnson, Bernardo Jua, Frank(Happening)MaHarris, Cornelious Drane.
i've never came up against anything like this but i believe the whole Sherman Bergman article is bogus. Look at the dates and weights on his "fight record", the whole thing doesn't make any sense. Have you ever heard of anyone having a pro record of 53 wins all by KO's, no decisions and half of them in less than 30 seconds all in round one??? there's no birth date on the guy, but it says he was an amateur in 1973, ok he was born some time in '50s then, according to his "record" he fought in 2000 at 202lbs, and then for whatever reason dropped down to 149 lbs in 2004 as a 50+ year old fighting 3 Argentinian guys all in one day....Brother whenever you have time if you don't mind to check it out. (Marty Rockatansky (talk) 07:01, 7 March 2008 (UTC))
- This guy is demented, he's been doing this since 2005, creating all kinda bs misinformation. Man, i wasted 4 hours tonight just to find out that all these articles are complete bullshit. Everything you're trying to find out on those guys Hank Bergman and Sherman Bergman on www leads back to wikipedia. Have you ever heard of "Sling-shot punch"? there was actually a thread created in sherdog about this, after people reading about it here. (Marty Rockatansky (talk) 11:08, 7 March 2008 (UTC))
- He had a long laugh, creating all this. We might need some kinda protection on List of male kickboxers, thats how i found it, going thru all the names. thx. (Marty Rockatansky (talk) 20:51, 7 March 2008 (UTC))
- He's not creating the guy up, I knew there's used to be a kickboxer by that name back in '70s who fought van Damme but the whole cult status thing, a sling-shot punch and the unbelievable fight record lost it for me as a credible evidence. It could be the Big Train self-glorifying and having fun, like i said i don't know what to do with it, how can you prove he's not notable or notable enough? A favour...
Hello... a favour to ask. You do a lot of work on deletions, so I was wondering if you could give me some feedback on my deletion of several articles. The oldest two (Tour Generación RBD and Tour Generación 2006) were AfD'ed last year, then recreated; Tour Celestial 2007 was speedy-deleted and recreated several times, and the most recent (Empezar desde Cero Tour) has been speedied four times by three different admins as advertising. (I'm pretty confident about what I've done, but being relatively new with the "tools" I'd like to get some input. Would it be better to group them all in an AfD?) Thanks in advance. --Ckatzchatspy 08:23, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

Image Deletion (?)
Hmmm, you deleted EZ_Solve_Screenshot_01.jpg , but I had explained the problem in the image's talk page! This image was not redundant, but was rather an updated version of another image (Example01.JPG). The Example01.JPG image had a generic title, and no fair use rationale. Since I could not change its title, I uploaded an image with a specific, descriptive title.... Worcester Squire (talk) 22:02, 8 March 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks a lot for the speedy response, however I have a question.
- Is this not enough:
- "Summary
- An example of EZ-Solve 1.0 running on Windows XP, attempting to solve a series of linear equations."
- I thought that it was enough because a similar page for MATLAB ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Matlab7.4.png ) has the following justification:
- "Summary
- This is a screenshot showing MATLAB 7.4 running in windows XP pro 64 bit with a QR decomposition" ?
- Thanks! Worcester Squire (talk) 22:11, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

Hello, you deleted the image above because it was redundant to another image you say. The image in question in Image:Poop.jpg, I believe you should have left Image:Jamesenx.jpg but deleted Image:Poop.jpg. While there appears to be no policy against uploading images of persons named under the filename Poop, I don't see how this is helpful, and will never help the reader understand the subject better, and might be a loophole in the policy. Please restore a deleted image
Hi, wondering if you could please restore this image [23]? I'm positive I put a fair use rationale there once, so maybe it was either mis-titled or deleted by a vandal or something... I can easily re-add it. Hope you can help. Nevermind, it was a different logo that someone else just added. Nobody of Consequence (talk) 17:48, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

Shahbazi.jpg image deleted
hi, I have uploaded an image called "Shahbazi.jpg" to Parviz Shahbazi's article and it was deleted for (no source, no license) reason. I have got that image and the accept to be published on Wikipedia from the author. Can you please tell me how can I upload it to the article, so that it would be ok and stay there?

Your image deletions
Hey. It seems that around 13 hours ago you speedy deleted a bunch of images with the summary 'Deleted because "either no source, no license or csd i8.' Looking at the deleted revisions, these images have two things in common; the description and licensing had been blanked by a vandal and the images were not tagged in any way. Examples:
- Image:Muhammad blake.jpg - PD-art image uploaded by admin Tariqabjotu, blanked by a vandal on March 11. This was quickly re-uploaded by someone else.
- Image:Lincoln univ seal.jpg - fair use image with rationale, blanked by a vandal on February 26.
- Image:Interior-of-City-Hall-2.jpg - PD-self, blanked by a vandal on January 16.
So, what is going on here? Prolog (talk) 14:24, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

Richboro Port railway station
Hi, you deleted this as a redirect to a non-existant page. The article was originally titled Richboro Port railway station, (correct title) and got moved to Richborough Port railway station (incorrect title}, then got moved back to Richboro Port railway station. I was trying to sort it out when another editor interfered and we ended up with a double redirect which I couldn't work out how to fix. I tagged the incorrect redirect as db-causing double redirect. The deletion of that should have cured the problem as there would be nowhere to redirect to, and entering / clicking on the correct title should have got to the article.
What is the easiest way around this? Rewrite article again (only a stub, so not a problem) or could it be resurrected by an admin? Mjroots (talk) 20:10, 13 March 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, all is OK now. Neddyseagoon sorted out the problems he created and I've added additional references re the spelling of the name to the article since. Thanks anyway. Mjroots (talk) 17:17, 14 March 2008 (UTC)

Deletion of "Berbers" image
I must object to your deletion of the Image:Berbers.jpg:
- 21:53, 8 March 2008 East718 (Talk | contribs) deleted "Image:Berbers.jpg" (copyright violation)
Whereas the image was altogether alike to any number of other composite images used articles on ethnic groups, to show some representatives, your deletion of it and the rationale you give do not seem to make much sense. Several of the sub-images used were, I believe, too old for copyright issues even to arise, and the use of more recent images in this way seems to be accepted as "fair use". If there really was a copyright problem with one of the sub-images, then only that image should have been taken out, not the whole composite image deleted. Moreover, so far as I can tell, you just came along and deleted the image, with no discussion. Please restore the image, and any particular troubles with it surely can be set aright with relative ease. -- Lonewolf BC (talk) 02:33, 14 March 2008 (UTC)

- Please just restore the image, and deal specifically with any sub-image that actually presents a problem. It is not reasonable to expect someone to go through the trouble of re-making the image. Myself, I don't even know how. I think you may be mistaken; either that or there are a great many ethic-group composite images with the same problem. But even if so, the right solution is to rid them of the troublesome sub-image or sub-images, not to delete the whole composite. Please do not be so peremptory. -- Lonewolf BC (talk) 19:45, 14 March 2008 (UTC)
- The problematic subimages have already been dealt with - they've all been deleted by other admins as copyright violations, which would make this composite image inherit any violations. However, I can empathize with you not wanting to do work on the image again, so I uploaded the two copies in the deleted history offsite. [26] [27] Also, if you spot any other composite images of this nature, please let me know and I will either rework the image or delete the offending parts. Yours, east.718 at 05:22, March 15, 2008

WP:AN/I Review
Not as an attack or criticism, but I've opened a section at WP:AN/I regarding your block of Majorly in order to get wider discussion about the infinite block of a long-term contributor. Avruch T 02:19, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
Please note this edit and other posts at User talk:Majorly. I urge you to consider posting an apology or expression of regret to Majorly for blocking without much or any warning, even if there were circumstances that called for such action. I would hate to see a longstanding editor lost to the project over a confluence of circumstances like this. --Coppertwig (talk) 03:33, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
Hi there. Just as a followup to all this, let me just say that blocking Majorly as you did, without warning and without due process was not the way it should have been handled. As he says himself, he'd have stopped straight away had he been warned. I know you meant well here, but your block was actually done out of process and I subsequently undid Majorly's pretty quickly. Please remember that especially in the case of an established editor who was making what he felt were good-faith edits, dialogue and explanation is vital first. I'm not sure that Majorly even knew who the banned editor actually was before he was blocked. Either way, I think a note on Majorly's talk page is warranted here, at least to let him know where exactly you were coming from on this one - Alison ❤ 05:48, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
- Thank you for your reply on my talk page, East718. I know very little about this whole situation and have no intention of criticizing you. However, there do appear to be differences of opinion as to whether due process was followed. Regardless of who is actually right or wrong about that, in the interests of defusing the current situation I encourage you to consider apologizing for not giving the specific warnings that some people would have expected, even if you consider such warnings to have been unnecessary. On a consensus-based wiki spanning a variety of cultures, different people may have different expectations. Someone might realize that something is disapproved of, yet still expect an official warning, and might not realize that certain things were already considered by others to have constituted that warning. --Coppertwig (talk) 12:39, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
- By the way, you said he "couldn't have expected anything else in return." I think that's not true: I think he did actually expect something different (see his post that I link to above). --Coppertwig (talk) 15:59, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
-
- I'm not here to pile on. I see from your user page you already know there are issues. I am just here to say that everyone makes mistakes, don't take it too hard. But on the other hand, blocking an established editor is not a matter to do hastily, so do think about the matter. In fact please give it considerable thought. I don't support the block now, didn't then but that's not the main point, because you already knew that. I just hope you think a lot more carefully in future. We don't want to lose anyone, you, Majorly, anyone else, ok? ++Lar: t/c 17:28, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
"Majorly was aware that this particular banned editor represents a very real threat to several contributors in real life" I'm curious, could you indicate to me when and where he was made aware? --Golbez (talk) 00:32, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
- He knew exactly who the editor in question was [28], yet ignored three different warnings to stop. Instead, he just said that he'd ignore the warnings, and chose to put back very problematic edits such as this over and over. [29] [30]
- Thanks. --Golbez (talk) 15:56, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

Hi dude! Look, since i joined Wikipedia, i never understood the whole image-uploading polices thing! I'm only here to improve stuff, and i have no intention of breaking any polices or laws! Please just leave me alone. I'm not doing any damage. And don't sick all your other little adminstrator buddies on me, as I already got threats from them when I asked you to stay off my sandbox. I'm pretty sure the whole point of my sandbox is to experiement and do things non-publiclly.

Different idea
I'm wondering if I might have found an easier/different way to intersect categories. Would it be possible to intersect all images that appear in one of these Cats Category:Fair use images but are not in Category:All non-free media? And then intersect all images in both Category:All non-free media and any of the sub-Cats starting at Category:Free images? That would give two lists. One of non-free images that for some reason aren't in the master category (corrupt license, etc) and a second list of all images with conflicting free and non-free licenses. MBisanz talk 17:30, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
- Well what I'm thinking with [32] is that some licenses may have been transcluded/edited by the uploader, and aren't therefore aren't compliant. Is there a way to run the script slowly over several hours on my computer? If so, I'll take it and just let it run for like a day. Sorry I managed to crash the toolserver. - Ok, so I installde Python, then TwistedNoDoc, then I unzipped pywikiparser, and then I unzippd the file you linked me to, both to the Python directory C:\Python25 on my machine. But I'm not seeing login.py, I clicked imagebot.py, and it started a dos screen that closed itself without doing anything. Where might I find that file? Thanks. - Uninstalled all programs. Reinstalled and unzipped. Found 2 files named login in pywikipedia subdirectory of python folder. Clicked them, nothing happened. Clicked the other py file you linked me to, nothing happened. I have McAfee antivirus, would it block this program? MBisanz talk 03:56, 27 March 2008 (UTC)

That worked. Running now. I'm still on the As so I can se why this is a long process. Thanks for the code. MBisanz talk 04:05, 27 March 2008 (UTC)
- My oh my, I can see why this would cause a remote connection to time out. But thankfully no load issues on my laptop. I'm also surprised at the number of images using non-standard characters in their titles. About 1 in 100 to 1 in 250. Maybe down the road, once we figure out how to rename images (without the complexities of a bot move, etc), that will be a task to tackle. Thanks again for the code. Quick question on Policy
Had a bit of an issue with a report at AIV, where a user was accused of socking with an IP that was accused of vandalism for tagging articles with {{expand}}, {{references}}, and similar tags. The report was declined, but I noticed the accused user's talk page, which mentioned your name. So, I thought I'd ask a question about our personal attack policy - What's our policy on Idiot lists? Thanks, UltraExactZZ Claims ~ Evidence 02:20, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
- Done. I stand mute on the "Enemies" section, which would probably be the greater violation if I could actually read it. Thanks for the sanity check. UltraExactZZ Claims ~ Evidence 02:31, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
Lon S. Safko
On January 19th you deleted my entry on Lon S. Safko , (wich also had other contributors). The Smithsonian Institution encouraged me to create the article to support the 18 inventions they now have part of their permanent collection that the content of that article referred to. It mentions the "First Computer To Save A Human Life", the "developer of the first voice recognition", the "first environmental control", the "first graphic Operating System", the "first computer system for the physically disabled", the founder of the Assistive Technology Industry, the "first software users guides", inventor of "ToolTips" op-up windows, etc. Even The Computer History Museum has 14 additional inventions in their collection. We think these are significant achievements enough to be listed.
Instead of deleting the article due to "style", how can I work with you to satisfy your requirements while allowing that information to be available.
Thank You!

Photo deletions.
You deleted 3 photos of mine that I uploaded. From reading the policies of your comment, you linked to 2 pages. They are.
CSD#I7 - Invalid fair-use claim. Non-free images or media that are used in at least one article
- That, right there, my photos did not meet the requirements, as I did not use any of them in a Wikipedia article, nor did I have any future intentions of, either.
NFC#Images_2 - The use of non-free
- They were not non-free images, so they were free. So my photos did not meet those requirements either.
If there were other policies the photos you deleted met, please let me know. Neal (talk) 00:40, 27 March 2008 (UTC).
Looking at your logs, it seems you did quite a lot. The images were Ryoung122.jpg, Plyjacks.jpg, and Bart_Versieck.jpg. Neal (talk) 00:43, 27 March 2008 (UTC).
Re: Did you manage to obtain a release for those images to upload them under the GFDL?
Re: Just ask the copyright holder
Okay, is the copyright holder the website, or the photographer, etc. I doubt I can get permission from MySpace as a company. Neal (talk) 20:25, 27 March 2008 (UTC).
Okay thanks, GFDL it fails. Neal (talk) 20:32, 27 March 2008 (UTC).
Television templates
hiya. i was wondering if you'd be able to un-delete the television templates Template:Aruba TV, Template:La Romana, Dom Rep TV, and Template:Guatemala City TV. They are notable for being media markets of television stations. thank ya! :D RingtailedFox • Talk • Contribs 21:45, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
I-3 deletion
Hey, I just noticed your deletion of Image:Laos new.gif, because I had just reviewed it myself. I don't think I3 was applicable. The image was properly tagged for delayed deletion on April 5 due to no fair use tag but there were no non-commercial use or other licenses involved that I saw. I think it's a problem that these show up on the category for candidates for speedy before their time has run. Maybe I'm wrong but I passed on this for that reason.--Doug.(talk • contribs) 17:03, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
- Sorry, maybe I read the log wrong, maybe you were undeleting it.--Doug.(talk • contribs) 17:04, 29 March 2008 (UTC)

- OK, now I get it, this guy has been re-adding this image for some time. You deleted it based on one tag, it's now tagged with a different tag. No idea why it was missing when I went to look at it though, it looked like you deleted it after I had checked it out. Doesn't matter, ignore all this. I'll take a closer look and see if it's a G4 and warn or if we should let it sit around 5 days now.--Doug.(talk • contribs) 17:39, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
Johnny Dowd photo
I got explicit permission from the photographer for use of her photo of Johnny Dowd, forwarded the email of the permission to permissions-en@wikimedia.org per Wikipedia's instructions . . . and it was deleted anyway (within seconds). So even with written permission, no one can upload images? What gives? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Filterking (talk • contribs) 00:43, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
- Hey I got your message, thanks kindly for all the useful info. I've just contacted the photographer per your suggestion about making the photo license free use. Got my fingers crossed. Again, thanks for explaining your reasons for deletion so clearly and helpfully. -- Filterking —Preceding comment was added at 01:08, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
Please restore
Can you please restore Image:ExtensionOptionsMap.jpg. This image is not available on the web any more and it's completely unreasonable to allow only weeks to replace it. JRG (talk) 03:18, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
- Sorry - the above isn't clear. I mean for the restoration only to be a temporary thing. JRG (talk) 03:19, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
New issue
Friday my internet connection blipped and I got disconnected. When I restarted and tried to reconnect, it won't let me. I uninstalled and reinstalled, and now I get a "Errno socket error 10061 Connection refused." Any idea how I can reset the connection? MBisanz talk 05:15, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
- Ok, entered that string. Result was Pining ... [208.edited] with 32 bytes of data

- I'm still dropping my wired connection more than usual. If I was say operating at a university with a common gateway access, would this look like a high traffic server transmission coming out of my machine? I probably should've asked earlier, what sort of bandwidth would I use running this prog? MBisanz talk 07:38, 30 March 2008 (UTC)

- Yea, 25kbs is nothing. And even over such a long period of time, I can't imagine it making a difference (what with 7,000 of us using it, there must be a couple youtube junkies here). O well, worst case I end up heading home for a weekend to run it. I'm guessing its coded only for my account (I saw some sysop thing in the login file with my name, and the imagebot obviously is private to some degree), so I'll maintain the control integrity if I do take it home. Image:Kabul University logo.gif
On 26 March 2008 you deleted Image:Kabul University logo.gif as orphaned, but it was in use on the Kabul University article. --Bejnar (talk) 01:49, 31 March 2008 (UTC)
Thanks!!!
Boy I'm glad I have Rollback rights. O_o That sock is silly; I revert one complaint of his on someone's talk page over a year ago and here we are today. Just out of morbid curiosity do you know what the heck was in those 50,000+ kb edits? The same comments repeated over and over I assume? And also, after reading your comment on Jeepday's page, did he segmentation fault my page? What's that. D: -WarthogDemon 03:09, 31 March 2008 (UTC)
- Wow . . . I'm actually interested to see what that looks like for real. I'm gonna try that (albiet only paste it once or twice) in my sandbox. :P Thanks again and perhaps you should semi-protect my userpage and talk page for a while? I don't want to give you people too much work. :) -WarthogDemon 03:32, 31 March 2008 (UTC)
Restore Image:Dogcow.png?
You deleted this image on the 28th as an I5. It was not in use, but that was the result of some overeager search/replace (or maybe vandalism, I can't tell). Could you restore it? Thanks. Zetawoof(ζ) 05:00, 31 March 2008 (UTC)
request unprotection of the page PayPay
Please unblock the page PayPay to other users that they can write the article in a better way than i did. Thank you --AndreYoung (talk) 13:03, 31 March 2008 (UTC)
A favour request
Hi,
Thank you for deleting Image:Chester Old College.jpg, as I had copied it to Commons, obsoleting the original image.
As your user page suggests that you are very willing to help, I would like to ask you a related favour. I have also copied another one of my images, Image:Derby Midland Station Departures Board.jpg, to Commons; could you please delete the now-unneeded Wikipedia version of the image?
Also, both the images I transferred to Commons have a tag (added by the tool I used to upload it) saying that they need to be reviewed. I don't really understand what this means, but is it something you are able to do?
Thank you muchly! - Green Tentacle (talk) 16:26, 31 March 2008 (UTC)
- I've deleted the local image. The reason why the bot tags the images so is because people can upload non-free images or copyright violations to the Commons; also, the bot isn't smart enough to properly categorize them. Normally a "trusted user" on Commons needs to review the image, but since these two are properly categorized and obviously have licenses that check out, you can go ahead and remove the tag. east.718 at 19:59, March 31, 2008

- Cool; I've done that. Thanks! - Green Tentacle (talk) 20:38, 31 March 2008 (UTC)
48 hours
Well I'm 48 hours into the run so far, no more connection glitches, and I haven't been tackled by campus security or the devs, so everything seems to be running ok. The naming error issue is actually turned out to be helpful I think. Its a sort of speed limiter with its 5 second wait. Thanks again. MBisanz talk 17:59, 31 March 2008 (UTC)
