[edit] Schools Project Assessment

The debate below says it all ... some pics? Victuallers 21:27, 2 May 2007 (UTC)

First I like to work on a Michigan High School Database with every school listed. If anybody wants to do this feel free to contact me here and we can then move the discussion later to the talk page of the michigan high school page. --Mihsfbstadium 15:44, 7 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Introduction Section

I am a little concerned with all of this attention to the security. I do not think those lines are neccessary since a majority of schools have security issues. In anycase thats my thoughts on that. --Mihsfbstadium 15:44, 7 January 2007 (UTC)

I agree. I moved it to a new secondary heading, Security, because the talk of security is inappropriate for the introduction. Curran (talk) 20:07, 23 April 2007 (UTC)

Security/gangs are not a concern at the three neighboring school districts. Forest Hills, Caledonia, and East Grand Rapids do not have gang violence, nor do they have a secuity patrol within the schools.

[edit] Racial Background

I have added the most current info on the racial background of the school. If somebody edits this info agian without providing any sources I will contact wiki about locking this article. That section has been getting attacked on multiple occasions every week with people changing the numbers. I searched for the most recent numbers and feel those will be the best. If you want to argue about the numbers bring some facts to the debate and we will debate them. Until then do not edit that section. --Mihsfbstadium 15:44, 7 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Secondary School box

This article needs to incorporate the secondary schools template, as shown below in hidden text.

[edit] References

This article needs citations!!!!!!! I've added prompts to the area that need it. Here's how it can be done,

[edit] Confilcting Facts

This article contains conflicting facts about the size of EKHS. One fact says EKSH is the biggest school in the fall of '07 and another says it won't be until 2008. WHICH IS IT!?! Citations will improve these discrepancies. Regards, Curran (talk) 20:06, 23 April 2007 (UTC)

Sorry when it was first written I believe the Ann Arbor school was planed to be opened in the fall of '06 with just 9th and 10th graders. But since they delayed the opening by a year, the HS wont be the largest until '08 when the school gets a full student body. The numbers come from the MHSAA and the info about the new school from the Ann Arbor Public Schools website.

[edit] Reversions

I reverted the page since a lot of the work that was put into it was eliminated. I think showing the school sucess is important in some fashion. Providing this info on this here is better than people trying to find it somewheres else. But one thing that should be done is that only State wide championships or runner ups as a team should be listed. As for notable alumni, a lot of them are sport figures. I tried to get info on the Attorney but couldnt find any along with Baculay the race car driver. The thing is that I think I remember the guy when I went to the school back in the day. --Mihsfbstadium 08:36, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

This is all very well, but you need to provide references for your input, not just Original Research. Chriswiki 08:56, 26 April 2007 (UTC)
All of the state tournment results come from the MHSAA. I thought I had a hidden commen in there that says that. In anycase as for the notable alumni I have no idea on some of them but others I went to school with and have seen thier bio's on thier respective professional websites that show that they prepped at EKHS. --Mihsfbstadium 09:46, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Revisions- Apr 27, 2007

Here is the description of my recent revisions.

1.)Secondary school box: the pic of EKHS was downscaled to 250px (the standard on education pages). The previous size was WAY TOO BIG!
2.)I added their mascot. Yes, yes, I know-- it's the mascot of the Atlanta Falcons. However, I know for sure this is the new mascot they're using, based on an email from the Assistant Principal when I requested their logo. This replaced the previous falcon because it is "more agressive".
3.)Having the security blurb in the intro paragraph is very unfitting. Security in schools is very common and moreover, not the highlight of the article!!! I added a secondary section and literally, CUT AND PASTED, not changing ANY info at all!

During the course of my revisions, no info was lost. However, the article was laid out in a way that is consistent with Wikipedia. Furthermore, THIS ARTICLE DOESN'T SITE ITS SOURCES!! I don't know why someone removed my {{fact}} markup. So I added the citation tag at the top. DO NOT REMOVE THIS AGAIN, please.

I am aware that some editors are butting heads with me. I'm sorry about any confusion, but I am simply trying to wikify this article. Any questions? Let me know... Cheers, Curran (talk) 02:54, 28 April 2007 (UTC)

I have no issues with what you are doing. In fact once I get the Ottawa-Kent Conference page better I plan on just running wild with that format with all of the conferences. I am feeling the need to just delete the comments in the security section. Frankly I would be happy to just eliminate it all together. From my standpoint as a graduate of the school security was never an issue. I just never understood why people were debating that. BTW can somebody fix the school matters citation I put on the diversity section. That is one thing I do not know how to fix. BTW if somebody wants to cite the MHSAA for the info about the size of school, mascot, colors, and location feel free to. As I said before I am horrible at those. --Mihsfbstadium 11:23, 5 May 2007 (UTC)
No problem. It's getting kinda late tonight, but I'll try to work on that tomorrow. BTW, I like that article on the Ottawa-Kent Confrence-- nice job. As for security, I agree, many high schools have security, and isn't very noteworthy. In addition, if someone really felt strong about having it in the article, I think it belongs as a subheading. C'ya. Curran (talk) 02:31, 10 May 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for the comment on the OK Conference page. It really has been fun to create. Now I want to continue that work to the next conference and so forth. Rith now I am little scared to try to do some of the other conferences but thankfully the MHSAA has all of that info on thier site for the basics of each conf. --Mihsfbstadium 18:18, 12 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:AtlantaFalcons 1000.png

Image:AtlantaFalcons 1000.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
