What's the deal with the "To Wikipedia..." headline? It seems like it doesn't belong. --BOARshevik 05:20, Jun 16, 2005 (UTC)

It doesn't, and now it's gone. (You should feel free to edit such things away, as well! ) - Nunh-huh 05:23, 16 Jun 2005 (UTC)
I could have, but I didn't know if it should just be changed or removed entirely. --BOARshevik 05:08, July 18, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Merger

  • against mergerThe article as it stands now actually discusses West Jersey more than East Jersey, but that can be corrected. the province was distinctly different from it's southern neighbor it terms of it's culture and development.
  • Against merger I see no reason to merge with West Jersey; the two provinces were separate, and matters which concern only one - including the present status of the Proprietors - should be in the individual articles. Common matters should go in Province of New Jersey. Septentrionalis PMAnderson 15:32, 6 February 2007 (UTC)
  • Against merger These are clearly more closely related than North Carolina, and South Carolina, but still they are different topics. BTW, I took the liberty to put the (against merger) tag on the above vote. Smallbones 20:23, 6 February 2007 (UTC)
  • Against merger My apologies for coming into this late. I had started both of these pages and originally had significant East Jersey -specific content. On December 12 2005 someone deleted much of this EJ material and then shortly after that somebody pasted in the material that related to West Jersey. I will try to repair it sometime soon, but this week I am swamped. ArloBee 02:26, 9 March 2007 (UTC)
  • Against merger OK, I briefly trudged out of my swamp and put back the East Jersey content that was West-ified back on December 12/13, 2005. Does this settle the question of whether to merge? ArloBee 03:48, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] "The Jerseys"

I have noticed that Thomas Jefferson, who was born well after East Jersey and West Jersey had gotten back together again, referred to New Jersey as "the Jerseys" (see his account of the Declaration of Independence's formation), as well as to Delaware as being the "Delaware counties". I wonder how long old place names persist, anyhow. 204.52.215.107 15:25, 4 July 2007 (UTC)
