Easy Radio London is a UK digital radio station broadcasting on DAB.

[edit] History

The station previously broadcast on 1035AM in London, on this frequency it was formerly known as Country 1035, Mean Country 1035 and Ritz 1035. The station was broadcast from the top floor of the Ritz Records building in Wembley, London. When taken over by the Sunrise Media Group and relaunched as Easy 1035 its programme director was Simon Yates assisted by Adam Lewis. The first show on the newly relaunched station at 6am was Breakfast with Ron Brown (who still presents breakfast on the station) followed by Mid Morning with Jack Kelly (who was also station voice for the first six months of broadcast). The station had a number of presenters that were from Mean Country 1035, but due to the takeover by Sunrise were all given new names, confusing many listeners. The station enjoyed a degree of success pushing up the listening numbers especially on Breakfast and the Mid Morning show but sadly didn’t perform well in airtime sales. Sunrise successfully applied to Ofcom for a format change on the AM frequency where it changed to an Asian talk station where former programme director Simon Yates continued his Saturday swap show (moved from Easy's sister station Sunrise Radio). Easy Radio continues on DAB in the London area and online. Ron Brown is the only original presenter left with the station.

[edit] Format

Some of the music policy from the stations country roots had been kept as the station continues to play music by artists such as Shania Twain, Kenny Rogers, The Dixie Chicks and Dolly Parton. At the same time the station plays easier pop music by acts such as The Beautiful South, The Eagles and Texas. Easy Radio has the news every hour from IRN.
