Eastgate Hotel
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Eastgate Hotel (aka The Eastgate locally) was originally a 17th century coaching inn on the south side of the High Street in central Oxford, England. It is located on the corner with Merton Street, where the old east gate of the city was positioned when Oxford had city walls. On the opposite side of Mertin Street, also on the High Street, are the Ruskin School of Drawing and Fine Art and the Examination Schools of Oxford University.
The hotel has recently become officially the Mercure Eastgate Hotel after a change of ownership.
