Eastfield, Glasgow

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Eastfield is a residential district in the Scottish town of Rutherglen in the south-east of the Glasgow urban area. It is situated south of the River Clyde. Formerly a country estate between the two industrial towns of Rutherglen and Cambuslang, Eastfield was developed with housing between the 1930s and 1960s. A mix of council and private homes, the area is also home to two large high schools (Trinity and Stonelaw) as well as the district's new swimming baths and is likely to be boosted economically by the planned expansion of the nearby M74 motorway which may bring nationwide businesses to Eastfield's doorstep. Nearby is one of Scotland's last steelworks at Clydebridge.
